Gingerbread House/Milk Carton Template

I made a gingerbread house a while ago and I have been asked if I could put the directions on how I made it onto my blog - so here they are.  The directions below are specifically for a carton that you can fit a roof to.  If you want an actual milk carton, don't cut out the triangular pieces and score all the way along the 5.25 inch line.

  • Cut card at 10 inches x 7 inches
  • Score on the LONG SIDE at 2 3/8, 4 6/8, 7 1/8 and 9 4/8 inches (apologies but I can't get the fractions to appear on my blog today for some reason).
  • Turn card around 90 degrees clockwise and score on the SHORT SIDE at 1.5 inches, 5.25 inches (but only between 1st and 2nd score lines and 3rd and 4th score lines)(this is so you don't have a score line on the triangular sides of the box) & 6.5 inches.
  • Cut out the parts indicated at the top and sides where the hash lines are and also on the dotted red lines.
  • Crease along the score lines and adhere double sided tape to the third bottom flap (this will be the front of your box) and to the side flap.
  • For the roof, cut a piece of card that is 5 inches x 3.75 inches and score at 2.5 inches on the long side.
  • Punch a hole in the middle of the carton flaps and also just below the centre fold (about half an inch) of the roof so that the ribbon can go through both the carton flaps and roof to hold it in place over the box.
  • Decorate roof and box as desired.
This is what it should look like once you have decorated it.
Stampin up gingerbread house
I hope this makes sense - I know photos would make it easier but I have been a bit stuck for time this week.
If you've got any questions I am more than happy to answer them.
