Hello Life meets Stacked with Love

OK so maybe it was too early for Easter boxes and cards so I have created a Valentine's card today using Stampin' Up!'s Hello Life stamp set and Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack which I think is one of my favourites out of all of them.  The papers in them are lush, lush, luscious!!

My husband left on Tuesday as he will be working in Antarctica for a few weeks so this will be a belated Valentine's card for him.

Stampin Up Hello Life Valentine Card

I used the Hello You Thinlits Dies to cut out the 'you' sentiment.   You will need the Big Shot to cut these out.  I was originally going to cut it out a few times in Real Red card to make it quite thick and give it a 3D look but instead I cut this out twice, once in red and once in black and layered the red slightly offset over the black so it gave it a bit of a shadow and 3D look.  I love the effect it gives.

Stampin Up Hello Life Valentine Card

I used the smallest heart from the Hearts A Flutter Framelits to cut out the shapes in the patterned paper and then punched out 3 hearts in Basic Black card.  I should have used the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack but picked up a retired punch instead by mistake!

Happy Easter Bunny Stamp

I know its a bit early to be thinking about Easter but I loved the Happy Easter Bunny stamp when I saw it in the Spring/Summer Catalogue.  It's a great size for a tag to go on an Easter egg but also makes a cute card too.

I coloured the image in with a mixture of Blendabilities and Stampin' Markers onto Very Vanilla card and dotted a few Basic Pearls around the image.  I layered that onto a Top Note die cut out of Chocolate Chip card.

I apologise for the dim photos but I didn't have time to set up any lighting and had to use the natural light which was very dark this afternoon because we have had snow on and off all day.

Easter Treat Boxes & Weekly Deals

Today I want to share some Easter Treat Boxes I have made using some of the lovely Sweet Dreams Designer Paper from Stampin' Up!  These dotty ones are my favourites out of the pack although all the papers in this DSP pack are luscious!
These boxes are a bit fiddly to make and a few practice ones ended up in the bin.  I almost gave up but perservered and this is how they eventually turned out.

The base and lid of the boxes was made in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pool Party and the ribbon is ⅝" Satin Ribbon in silver which ties into a bow beautifully.

Easter Treat Boxes Stampin Up

The video tutorial on how to make these is by a Stampin' Up! demonstrator Dannie Graves - thank you Dannie for making such a clear tutorial.  The only differences were that I used the Oval framelits and the oval to make the lid and box is the 4th largest one and the smaller oval of DSP is cut out from the 5th largest (or 3rd smallest!).  The strips of card I cut were 10" long instead of 11" as in Dannie's video as the ovals were slightly smaller.

I have listed the products that I used below.  Also scroll down to the bottom of the post to see this week's Weekly Deals from Stampin' Up!

Lotus Blossom - Stampin' Up!

I have finally got around to using the Lotus Blossom stamp set which is one of the products from Stampin' Up!'s Sale-A-Bration catalogue (see the link on the right hand side of my blog) and which you can earn for free on a purchase of £45 or more.
Lotus Blossom Stampin' Up! Thank you Card
It is a 3 step stamp and I stamped the lightest shade first followed by 2 darker shades.  Because the stamps are photopolymer it is easy to line them up and also because Stampin' Up! have made them with a tab at the top to make alignment even easier.
Lotus Blossom Stampin' Up! Thank you Card
On the card above I used Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral.  I first stamped the lightest shade (the solid colour stamp) using Crisp Cantaloupe which I first stamped off on a bit of scrap paper and then stamped it straight onto the Whisper White card without re-inking to give it a very pale shade.  I then followed up with the next stamp, again with Crisp Cantaloupe but no 'stampin off' this time and then finished up with Calypso Coral for the darker highlights.

On the second card I used Pool Party and Coastal Cabana.  The ribbons are another free
Sale-A-Bration item and come in a pack of 3 with Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral and also some matching buttons.  I added 3 tiny pearls to each card to finish them off.
The cards were made using the Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes which come in a pack of 20 and are really good value at £5.50.  I lined the envelopes using the In Colour 2013-2015 Designer Series Paper Stack.

If you would like to buy any of the products used to make these cards, just click on the items listed below.
(Where it shows a price of £0.00, this can be chosen as a free item - ie. for every £45 you spend during the sale-a-bration promotion you can choose one free product from the sale-a-bration catalogue).

Back tomorrow with another post.

Stampin' Up! - Crazy About You

I bought the Crazy About You stamp set recently as I get stuck sometimes trying to find the right sentiment for a card and because this set has so many sentiments I know it will be used an awful lot.

I used the colour combination of Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder, Blackberry Bliss and Pink Pirouette.

Card made using Crazy About You stamps and Hello You thinlits dies

I used some wax paper to cut out the 'Hello' thinlits die and it popped out really easily.  I know people also use dryer sheets with good results too.

The flowers from the Crazy About you stamps punch out with the 1¾" scallop punch.  I added some Candy dots to the middle of the flowers.

Hope you like today's card and have a lovely weekend.

Hello You Thinlits - Sunshine Card

I am writing this blog post on Wednesday afternoon and looking outside my window all I can see is a thick blanket of snow.  Because we live in the highest town in England, we get snow when others can be basking in sunshine and quite regularly get cut off from the rest of the world!  So I thought I would make a Sunshine Card to cheer up the grey (and white) day.

Stampin Up Crazy About You stamp set and Hello You thinlits

I have used the Hello You Thinlits Dies from the Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer Catalogue 2015 which you can buy as a bundle with the Crazy About You stamp set.  Buying the two together as a bundle saves you 15%.  There are 33 stamps in the Crazy About You set with lots of sentiments for most occasions.

I also used a stamp from Kinda Eclectic to stamp the sun.  The colours are Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.

Stampin' Up! Thinlits Card

On another note, I had all my hair chopped off on Tuesday so it is really short now....probably not the wisest time of year to go short especially as it snowed yesterday and today so my ears are feeling the cold!!  Sometimes we need a change and I felt I was in need of a makeover.  I've had long hair for so long now I don't recognize myself in the mirror!  I guess I will have to change my blog 'about me' photo but maybe wait until it gets warmer again so my ears don't look blue!!

Stampin' Up! Weekly Deals & Get Well Card

First of all, here are this week's Weekly Deals from Stampin' Up!  Just click on any item to purchase it in my online shop.

I'm going MAD, MAD, MAD for the Cheerful Critters stamp set.....I can't stop using it!  My mum was taken into hospital last week so I thought it would make a great 'Get Well' card for her and hopefully it will put a little smile on her face.

Again I had to get the scissors out to do some 'fussy' cutting (removing the sign as it was too small for my sentiment) and I popped bunny up on some Stampin' Dimensionals once I had him/her coloured in.

stampin up cheerful critters stamp set

As none of the sentiments that came with the Cheerful Critters stamps fitted a get well card, I stamped a sentiment from the Fabulous Four stamp set onto Whisper White card and backed it with some Basic Black to frame it.  I also put some dimensionals on the back and squidged it behind bunny's ears.  Add a few hearts in real red to match the card base and VOILA....

Makes me smile anyway....hope mum likes it.

Cheerful Critters Ferrero Rocher Favour Box

OK so I know I am going a bit overboard on the Cheerful Critters stamps these past few days but I promise this will be the last one for a while!  After my blog post last Thursday where I made a Ferrero Rocher favour box HERE my mind went into overdrive and I came up with this one too...

cheerful critters ferrero chocolate favour box

The banner (Wisteria Wonder) and little bows (Blackberry Bliss) were stamped and cut out using the Celebrate Today stamps and matching framelits from the new Spring/Summer catalogue.  I used paper from Birthday Bash DSP and backed it with the same sized bit of scrap card to make it a bit sturdier.

Cheerful Critters Ferrero Rocher Favour Box

Again these are really easy to make:-

  • Cut card 5cms x 21cms (2" x 8½")
  • Score at 1, 6, 7.5 and 12.5cms (½", 2½", 3" and 5")
  • Score on all the lines and put double sided adhesive on the 1cm (½") score flap.
  • Punch out a circle using the 1⅜" circle punch between the 1cm and 6cm (½" and 2½") score lines. If you want to add a matching scalloped frame around the hole, then punch out another 1⅜" circle and then use the 1¾" scallop punch to make the frame.
  • Put the Ferrero Rocher chocolate on the base and pull the hole over the top and remove the tape to stick the 1cm (½") flap to the upright.

Wouldn't these make great place card holders for a childrens' party/baby shower if you wrote the guest names on instead?

Cheerful Critters meets Celebrate Today

I hope you all had a good weekend.

On today's post which uses Stampin' Up!'s Cheerful CrittersYou know how your mind whizzes around when you see a stamp set and all sorts of ideas come into your head, well that was the case when I saw Cheerful Critters.  I had it in my head to cut out the sign the bear was holding and have him holding something else and in this case 2 balloons from Celebrate Today.

Cheerful Critters and Celebrate Today stamps from Stampin Up

After colouring the bear,  I fussy cut him out and mounted him onto some Basic Black card using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I die cut two balloons from Celebrate Today using the matching Balloon Framelits having stamped them in Island Indigo and Tempting Turquoise.  I used thick Baker's Twine in Coastal Cabana and stuck it to the card using a Two Way Glue Pen.

The little bow was cut out using the same Balloon Framelits Dies in Pumpkin Pie card.

I hope you enjoyed today's post....see you tomorrow.

Do you remember me telling you about my odd remedy for my tickly cough that was keeping me awake?  Well I can tell you that on the first night I tried it I slept without coughing until 2.30am and the following night I didn't cough at all.  It's mad but it worked....YAY!

Painted Petals Split Card

I have used Painted Petals again today...I think it will be one of the most popular stamp sets from the new Spring/Summer Catalogue.

The colour combinations are Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette, Coastal Cabana and Wild Wasabi.

Painted Petals Stamp set and Bow Builder Punch from Stampin Up

I haven't unfortunately got ribbon in all Stampin' Up!'s colours yet so I used some Pool Party seam binding ribbon instead.  My husband made me a brilliant wall mounted ribbon holder which looks very empty so I now have an excuse to fill it!!

Stampin Up Painted Petals card and Bow Builder Punch

I split the card at an angle for a different look, added a strip of Strawberry Slush spotty DSP & added a bow made with the NEW Bow Builder Punch. The sentiment is from a Hostess Set 'Hello There'.  I think the card and tag have a bit of a shabby chic/Cath Kidston style about them.

Don't forget to take a look at the weekly deals (link on right hand side of my blog) as there are some great bargains this week.  There are some punches on there that I will be ordering such as the Hearts Border Punch (Valentine's Day is coming up!), Note Tag Punch, Chevron Punch & the What's Up Punch.

On a different note....I have got a really bad tickly cough that kept me awake most of last night so rather than keeping my husband awake, I went downstairs and researched 'cures for tickly coughs' as I have tried various medicines over the past 2 weeks, none of which have worked.  One odd remedy I found is to cover your feet in Vicks Vapour Rub and then put socks on before going to bed!  So that is what I am going to try this evening and I shall let you know if it works!!

Stampin' Up! Painted Petals Ferroro Rocher Favour Box

As my mind is on weddings (my niece's...not mine),  I have made a Ferrero Rocher Favour Box which was inspired by the very talented Tanja Kolar so I take no credit for this little box.

I matched it with the card from yesterday's post here.

Painted Petals Ferrero Rocher Favour Box

They are so easy to make.  Just cut a piece of card 5cms x 21cms.  Score at 1cm, 6cms, 7.5cms and 12.5cms.  Using the 1⅜ circle punch, punch out a hole for the Ferrero Rocher and then use double sided tape to stick the 1cm scored end to the back.

Again it is made using Wisteria Wonder and the Painted Petals stamp set along with a little bit of Painted Blooms DSP and some Hello Honey ribbon.  Isn't it cute?  The top is punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  One thing I did find and I don't know why it works this way but if you put in the Ferrero Rocher and bring the punched out hole over the top and then stick it down it seems to stand better than if you just 'plonk' it in the hole!!  I have no idea why but that seemed to work for me.

Thank you for stopping by.

Painted Petals and Weekly Deals

Today's new Weekly Deals from Stampin' Up! are down at the bottom of this post so carry on scrolling to see what's on offer this week.

I have finally got around to using the oh so pretty Painted Petals stamp set from Stampin' Up!'s new Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Stampin Up Painted Petals stamp set

I used a Whisper White card base and stamped the flowers first using Wisteria Wonder Ink and then using my stamp-a-ma-jig (an essential tool for correct placement of stamps) I lined up the leaves which I stamped in Wild Wasabi.

The striped paper is from Painted Blooms DSP and is absolutely scrummy and I really had to force myself to cut it up!  Some of the designs in that pack have been hand painted.

I 'splodged' (a Wendy technical term) some Pink Pirouette ink very lightly over the top just to add a bit more interest (not sure really if I should have done) and then die cut it out using my Big Shot and added a sentiment from the same stamp set in Memento Black ink.  Finally I punched out a strip of Wisteria Wonder card using the scallop edge punch.

I uploaded the new weekly deals last night so hopefully they should automatically update with today's new offers.
