Yet another Typewriter...

I hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing Christmas break.  I certainly did and I am looking forward to 2017.

My last post before Christmas was a 3D Typewriter card that closed flat for posting and is by SVG Cuts. Well I enjoyed making it so much I made another one during the break and I'm itching to make  another one for Valentine's Day.  I also think they would be great for wedding table decorations, perhaps putting the wedding menu on the card or a table number?

I didn't notice until I photographed this one that the space bar had moved after I glued it on and is wonky...I might try and get it off and re-glue it as it is really bothering me that it isn't straight!

I typed out the sentiment on this one rather than stamping it and used a typewriter style font.

And here they are both together...

3D Typewriter

This will be my last blog post before Christmas so I thought I would make something non-Christmassey with my trusty Silhouette Cameo and made this 3D Typewriter that I have been wanting to make for ages when I first saw it at SVG Cuts HERE.  The kit is called 'World's Best Mom'.

Apart from the fact that it is such a clever SVG, it is even more amazing when you realise that it folds flat for posting and the kit includes an envelope that is sized perfectly for posting it in!

I decided to make this into a birthday card and there is a space on the rear of the typewriter where you can write your message.

The sentiment on the front is by Waltzing Mouse Stamps.

It's even got the carriage return (for those of us who remember using typewriters!).

I really enjoyed piecing this all together and when I have tidied up my craft room, this will take pride of place as I think it's really cute.  I'm not sure I want to give it away so I will have to make another one.

Have a Cool Day

Hello peeps.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  I managed to do a little bit of crafting in-between doing Christmassey stuff which included writing our cards.  Here is one I managed to fit in before it disappeared into an envelope!!

Cool Day by My Favorite Things
It was a relatively quick card to make (quick is good at this time of year) and I only used one stamp set which is Cool Day by MFT.  The dotted background is Confetti Cuts 'Hoppin Dots' by Reverse Confetti and the scalloped circle die is cut out using the Columbus Circle by Mama Elephant.

XL Christmas Gift Card Holders

I have managed to make two XL Christmas Gift Card Holders today.  I always think gift cards look very small when you wrap them up so I decided to make them extra large.

I have again used Beary Christmas cut files by Lettering Delights to make these.

Beary Christmas by Lettering Delights

I can show these as I am fairly certain that the people that I have made them for don't read my blog (one of them doesn't have a computer so that is a sure bet!).

Now if you have a look at Beary Christmas you will be wondering where the polar bear is....well there isn't a polar bear but a brown bear which I changed into a polar bear.  My husbean who encounters polar bears most years when he goes away to the Arctic to work, has told me that they don't have glittery snouts......well this one does!!!  He's obviously never seen one at Christmas time!!

Polar bear Christmas Gift card holder

I have made both of them so that they will stand up like a card and have attached the gift card inside.

I thought it would be fun to add some fish to the inside of the polar bear's tummy - technically they should be fish bones but he has only just eaten them!

I didn't have any 12x12 white card so I had to make him with black card but lined them front and back in white.

Merry Mice

Hello again.  I have been playing with another cut set I bought from Lettering Delights last week.  This one is called Merry Mice.  And like Beary Christmas (see Monday's card HERE), there are lots of cute cut files - and I love CUTE.

Lettering Delights - Merry Mice Cut Files

I cut the mouse out first using card by Papermill Direct which cuts like a dream on my Silhouette Cameo, stuck him together (paper piecing is sooo relaxing) and then I cut out the lights and then once they were all stuck down, I added some Glossy Accents and put them to one side.

Now I have had a few stamping disasters recently so I put the lights out of the way to dry....then forgot about them, & a short while put my finger on the green light - which is where you can see the bubbles!!!!

At least you can't see my fingerprint splodged all over the lights!

I used WPlus9's Sunshine Layers die to cut the white card and popped it onto a card base.  The sentiment is from Merry Everything by MFT

I did add some Wink of Stella to the mouse's ears and nose but it doesn't show up in the photo.

Hope you have a great weekend....I think we are finally putting up the Christmas Tree...well husbean is.  I shall sit and watch him while I drink coffee and eat mince pies!!

Merry Everything - MFT

I've been very good again using something from my stash of craftiness - I have used MFT's Merry Everything stamp set to make today's card.

MFT Merry Everything Christmas Card

I love making polaroid style cards and had great fun making this one.  I first cut out the polaroid frame using my Silhouette Cameo.

I stamped several of the reindeer from the stamp set and a Father Christmas and then happily coloured them in using my Copics.   I was going to fussy cut them out but looking at those antlers I decided to use the matching dies...much quicker!

I then cut a piece of black card (although it looks brown in these photos) to place behind the frame and lined up where I wanted the reindeers and Father Christmas to go.  Once I was happy, I stuck them all down.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white on black card and added it to the frame.

I had some scraps of black card left over from cutting out scallop edges so I stuck a piece of this on the bottom of the frame behind some Strawberry Slush coloured card and then popped it up on foam strips onto a white card base.

Amazingly, I did not make any mistakes on this card!!  Yay!

Beary Christmas Watercolour

I am sure I have mentioned this before but I LOVE Lettering Delights cut files....I have built up quite a collection and although I said I wasn't going to buy any more crafty stuff for a while, I gave in when I saw the Beary Christmas Cut Set.

There are so many cute bears in it and this is one of them....

Lettering Delights Beary Christmas Cut set

I started off by using some mini distress inks to blend a background and then splattered water droplets over it.

I then cut out the bear and star using my Silhouette Cameo.  As my Silhouette mat was not very sticky and wouldn't hold my glitter card which is quite thick, I cut out the star with thin card and then traced around the glitter card and cut it out with scissors.

A new very sticky Silhouette arrived the day after - always the way!

Beary Christmas cut set from Lettering Delights

I heat embossed two separate sentiments using white powder...the 'Have a Beary' is from MFT Cool Day and the 'Christmas' is from a Waltzing Mouse set which is no longer available.

Although you can't see it, I applied some Glossy Accents to his nose to make it shiny.

Here are some of the other images in this cut set....there are more.  Click on the image to go to the LD page to see them.

A Krafty Christmas Card

I thought I would make a Christmas card today using Kraft card which I haven't used in a while....

Christmas Card using MFT Merry Everything and Avery Elle Let it Snow

I struggled to finish this card as my heat gun is playing up and so after I had sprinkled the white embossing powder onto the kraft card, it decided to stop.  I think it overheats quickly and then won't work until it has cooled down.  I don't mind waiting as I get on with other things but I forget that there is loose powder on the card and quite often smudge it which is why there are a few white blobs on the reindeer!!  It could be that he has been eating snow and that is why it is on his nose?!

Anyway it did eventually decide to blast out some heat for me to finish this card which I coloured using some Zig Clean Colour brush markers.

At least I managed to find time to make 3 cards this week.

Have a great weekend,

So Tweet - Watercolour

I dug out my watercolours for today's card which I made using a set by Winnie & Walter called 'So Tweet'.  I also used a Merry Christmas sentiment by Woodware 'Hand Drawn Greetings'.

Watercoloured Christmas card using Winnie & Walter 'So Tweet' and Woodware Hand Drawn Greetings

I heat embossed the birds using black Versamark ink and clear embossing powder & I then coloured them in using watercolours.

I very carefully (after the birds had dried) painted in the background and again waited until that had dried before I heat embossed the sentiment using white powder.

I coloured in the lettering with watercolours and then splodged and splattered some Picket Fence Distress Stain over the top having masked off the birds and sentiment first.

I always find it hard photographing cards during the Winter months because of the gloomy light we have here, particularly at the moment.  I go around the house looking for a place with good natural light and end up contorted in various positions which my Pilates teacher would be proud of, just to get a straight on shot!!!  :-)

Jumping Bunnies.....

Hello peeps.  I have been sadly lacking in my blog posts just recently but I am back today with a card that is soft and fluffy - well that is what it this jumping bunny makes me think of.

I have used a stamp by House Mouse Designs that I have hardly used called Happy Hoppers .  When I first got into card making, I bought a few House Mouse stamps at the Hobbycraft Show at the NEC so I thought it was time to get them out and use them to stop me drooling over the latest releases from other companies.  With Christmas coming I am cutting down on my crafting purchases....well trying to anyway!!  It's soooooo hard.

House Mouse Designs 'Happy Hoppers'

I first stamped the mouse onto watercolour card using black Versamark ink and then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.

I then used watercolours over the top and amazingly for me, I didn't make one boo boo during the creation of this card!!  Perhaps my noodle head is emptying itself of noodles and my brain will once again start working as it should?

I won't hold my breath on that one!

Double Whammy

Just a quick apology to the few lovely people who subscribe to my blog posts, because for some reason my last 2 posts have been sent out by email twice.

Now I'm not sure if it's something I have done, because I can be a right noodle head sometimes or whether it's a blogger feed issue.

I am trying to work out why it has happened but in the meantime.....and I hope this one doesn't bombard you twice.

Oops and sorry!!

Vintage Merry Christmas

I've not had much time lately to do any crafting but I managed to squeeze in a couple of hours this weekend to make a card for this week's Less is More Challenge which is VINTAGE.

I struggled with this and quite a few attempts ended up in the bin, but I eventually came up with this card.  I noticed that a lot of pink was used on ye olde Christmas cards so that is what I went with.

Vintage style Merry Christmas card

I did some watercolouring to create the background and also on the mittens which are from MFT 'Cool Day' and fussy cut them out.

I cut out the word Merry using my Silhouette Cameo and stamped the 'Christmas' below and then adhered the front to a matching pink card base.

Of course I had to add some dots and stripes to the mittens but that was it.  A really quick card to make although the time it took to get there was waaaayyy longer than I wanted.

So here is the card I made before this one which I didn't throw in the bin but I'm still not sure I like it.

And I won't even show you the card that ended up in the bin although my husbean said he liked it....no accounting for taste I suppose!! :-)

Ombre Christmas

The challenge over at Addicted to CAS this week is:-

https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2402150841229007153#editor/target=post;postID=4494964031796821743

When I saw the code word, my mind immediately thought of a Mexican in an ombre sombrero with the words 'Happy Birthday Hombre' below - that's how my sometimes odd mind works!  Anyway I decided I wouldn't go with that idea and made a Christmas card instead...

Ombre Christmas card using blended pink distress inks

I used Clearly Besotted's Birch Background to heat emboss on some watercolour card and then blended Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar distress inks over the top.  I cut out the trees using MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles and used the negative part to make a frame around the outside.

The word Noel was cut out using a Stampin' Up! die and again I used the inks to 'ombre' the word slightly and layered it up on some adhesive foam which I also die cut using the same word.

Ombre Christmas card entered into Addicted to CAS Challenge #101

I still think the Mexican idea was a good but I loved how this one turned out and it means one less Christmas card to make!

One Layer Card Challenge

I am entering another one layer card for the challenge today over at Simply Less is More and the theme is:

 BOOKS/LITERATURE

I have used a digital stamp from Sassy Cheryl called 'A Good Read Maddie'

Sassy Cheryl - A Good Read Maddie digital stamp

I used my Copics to colour in the stamp and without thinking I die cut it out using WPlus9 Sunshine Layers.  Then it struck me that I had to make a ONE layer card and a lot of 'bothers', 'oh poo'  (and worse) came out of my mouth!!!

Anyway - I then realised I could attach it to another die cut if I made it slightly larger and folded over a small portion at the top to make a tab.  Voila!  Problem solved and yet another card making crisis averted.

Notice I have photographed it with a slight side view so that you can see it really is a one layer card!

This card making process was 'not soothing to the soul' although I always find colouring in very relaxing.

Thank you for visiting my blog.
