Pop Up Birthday Card Tutorial

Today's card is one that I have made for the Papermilldirect Blog Inspire.  It's a Pop Up card made using Mama Elephant's Woodland Gifts.

I made my first pop up card a couple of years ago and haven't made any for a while so on a wet and cold Saturday afternoon last weekend I went to my craft room and this is what I came up with...

This is the inside of the card and here is the front of the card....

To make the inside of the card is very easy.  I cut a piece of card that was 4" x 10.5" and folded it in half lengthways.  I then measured 1" up from the fold and marked it with a pencil line.  I marked the center of the fold and measured 1" out from the centre on either side.  I cut from the fold up to the pencil line from these marks and folded the tap upwards, creasing it well with my bone folder.

Instructions on how to make a pop up card
I turned the card over so that the right side was facing and pulled the tap through so that it creates a little platform.  You can create as many platforms as you want and at different heights by varying the length and width of the cuts.

I put adhesive on the rear of the top panel and stuck it down to the top inside of a card base making sure not to put adhesive on the platform.  Once that was stuck down I put adhesive on the bottom panel and stuck it to the bottom of the card base.
I coloured and cut out my pieces and stuck them onto the platform and top of the card.  They are very easy to make and good fun.
