Having a Ruff Day?

I have entered another challenge for the first time - the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #6

I chose to go diagonally from right to left - Umbrella/Clean and Simple/Patterned Papers.

My Favourite Things - You Make my Tail Wag

I used some patterned papers from Lawn Fawn - Perfectly Plaid and some other scraps I had lying about,  which I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo using an Umbrella cut file by Lettering Delights.

I stamped the dog's head twice (MFT - You Make my Tail Wag) once onto kraft card and again onto some darker brown and fussy cut out the patch and layered it on top of the kraft card which was also fussy cut.  I added a dob of glossy accents to his nose and put him inside the umbrella.

I then heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set in white embossing powder and popped the dog and umbrella onto some card cut out using WPlus 9 Sunshine Layers and then layered that onto a white card base.

His nose doesn't look very shiny even with Glossy Accents - maybe he's going down with my flu?!!

The aliens have landed!

Well the Easter Bank Holiday wasn't great weather wise - beautifully warm and sunny day on Good Friday and snow...yes snow on Easter Monday!!!!  That's what comes from living in the highest market town in England.  Apparently many years ago there was snow in July which cancelled a cricket match!!

Anyhow the weather meant that I got to spend more time in my craft room (yippee) and so I decided to enter another challenge #269 at Less is More.  The theme this week is Polka Dots.

Out of This World Clearly Besotted

So as you can see the aliens have landed although when they saw the snow they disappeared sharpish!!

I've used a couple of stamp sets by Clearly Besotted - Out of This World and Background Builder.

I used ink refills to create a watercoloured'ish background and then heat embossed the polka dots on top.  A bit of colouring in with my Copics and a sentiment and it's finished.  Oh,  I also added some glossy accents to their eyeballs and some Wink of Stella.

Thanks for stopping by.... head on over to Less is More as there are some fantastic cards in this challenge to inspire you.

Seven Hills Craft Challenge - March

I know I don't usually post on a Saturday but I wanted to enter a card for the Seven Hills Craft Challenge for March.  This is my favourite store for stamps and dies but my wish list just keeps on getting  bigger and bigger!!!

 Mama Elephant Woodland Gifts
Having a really nasty bout of the flu these past couple of weeks sent my crafting mojo to another planet but it's almost back to normal now.

The challenge was to make a card based on this sketch...

Seven Hills Crafts Craft Challenge March

Seven Hills Crafts March Craft Challenge

I've used Copic markers to colour in Mama Elephant's Woodland Gifts for the toadstools and wee mousie, (which unusually I fussy cut despite having the matching dies) a combination of distress & pigment inks for the background sky and a sentiment from MFT Brushstroke Birthday.

The scallop frame is from WPlus9 Sunshine Layers and the embossing folder is by Cuttlebug.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy crafting

Chocolate Easter Bunnies - Nom Nom

I made this card on Sunday, the first day back in my craft room after being knocked for six by a nasty flu virus.

My crafting mojo hasn't quite returned back to full strength so I thought I would share a card I have totally copied from the original by Anja Curvers HERE.  When I first saw this card by Anja it made me laugh and I thought it was so clever to use the bunny in this way.

So here is my (almost the same) version......

Heffalump Birthday Card

Hi there and here is another quick card today that I made as part of the Papermilldirect Design Team.

I am still loving the watercolour effect and until I actually get around to buying some watercolours, I make do with ink pad refills.  I have used two by Stampin' Up! which are Tangerine Tango and Real Red.

WPlus 9 'Unforgettable' Birthday Card

I started off by heat embossing the sentiment in white onto some White Hammered card by Papermilldirect and then wetted the card with water.

I then literally splodged (a Wendy technical term!) the ink onto the card using an aqua brush and wiping any excess from the sentiment with a paper towel.

I ran the card front through my Big Shot to add the Wonky Stitched Lines.

I coloured the elephant from WPlus9's 'Unforgettable' stamp set using some Copic Markers and adhered him to the front of the card using foam dimensionals and also added some stars from a shaker mix from Lucy's cards.

What's Outside Your Window - Less is More Challenge

I found out about the 'Less is More Challenge' from a fellow blogger, Marie at Baileyrosy whose blog I now follow.  I saw that she had entered this week's challenge #268 which is 'What's Outside your Window'.

Well for the past couple of years we have had a pair of collared doves who have visited our garden from when they were very young and for the past week,  every time I look out of my window I see them huddled together and sitting on our decking rail.  They are really sweet!

So this is the card I have come up with.....

Less is More Challenge #268

I cut out the doves using a cut file from my trusty Silhouette Cameo and also made a fence that would sit in the circle and stamped that with a woodgrain stamp in a pale grey.

The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse which is now sadly closed down.

Actually, this weekend, I have been painting a dovecote which my clever husband made and is going to sit on top of a tall tree trunk.  I've read a lot about getting doves to nest in the cote and know that wild doves are very unlikely to make a nest in them but I am hopeful that if our visiting pair don't build a nest in there that some of the many other little birds in our garden might.

When it's all finished I shall post a photo of it...just needs a roof now.

Please take a hop on over to the Less is More Challenge to see what other crafty bloggers have seen outside their window this week.

Update - I had typed Turtle Doves and my husband kindly pointed out that they are Collared Doves - my apologies but my head is still in a muddle after recovering from the flu!!!

Flying Bunny Shadow Box Card

I have never made a shadow box before but when I saw this sweet little file in the Silhouette Store by Daniela Angelova I bought it right away.

Easter Shadow Box Card

Isn't that little bunny cute?!!

I used some patterned papers from Trimcraft Secret Garden paper pad which I found rummaging around the craft section at The Works and the sky background is from an old Stampin' Up! pack I've got left over.

I stamped the basket with some yellow ink and a stamp that fitted over it perfectly and added some pink ears and a nose with a copic marker on the bunny.

I admit it took me a little bit of time to figure out how it all went together and if I had bothered to look on Daniela's blog I would have found the instructions and saved some time but sometimes it's good to get those grey cells working!!

Easter Bunny Balloon Shadow Box Card

Have a lovely weekend and I will try and do a blog post on Monday that doesn't involve bunnies!!!

Mini Easter Egg Treat Box - Design Team Project

This week as part of the Papermilldirect Design Team I have made a mini Easter egg treat box.

Mini Easter Egg Treat Box

I cut out the box using my Silhouette Cameo using an svg which was originally a lantern but I modified it to make it more of a basic shape & welded the bunny to the main part of the box inside an oval.

I used Papermilldirect's White Linen Card for the box and it cuts beautifully on my Silhouette Cameo.  I adhered some clear acetate on the inside of the ovals so that the eggs don't fall out, added some grass and cut out some more bunnies using patterned paper which I added on top along with a scalloped frame.

The flowers are made using a punch by Stampin' Up!

I stamped the swirly circles and the sentiment from a set by Create A Smile and coloured in the sentiment with Copic markers.  I then cut the triangles out by hand and popped them up using foam tape.

The box can be opened without ripping it apart and ruining it because I stuck it together using glue dots.

Silhouette UK - Free Design Weekly Challenge

As I enjoyed playing along with the Silhouette UK Free Design Weekly Challenge, last week, I thought I would enter this week's too especially when I saw what it was....

My head was buzzing with all sorts of possibilities but actually when it came to it I had such a time trying to decide which way to go and my craft room ended up in a right mess!!  Anyway I couldn't choose between 2 cards so I am showing you both of them.

Silhouette UK Free Design Weekly Challenge

The gold and black one is a shaker card and I used Silhouette's Printable Gold Foil to cut out the shape using my Silhouette Cameo and filled my shaker with Gold Dust Sequins from Little Things - Lucy's Cards.  I then adhered this to a card base using double sided foam to give it dimension.

Free Design of the Week Challenge - Silhouette UK

Silhouette UK Free Design of the Week Challenge

For my second card I used the negative parts that were left after I cut the bird out in red card.  Getting them onto the card was a bit tricky but all I did was put the positive shape on the card and filled it with the negative parts, sticking them as I went.

Silhouette Free Design of the week challenge

The leaves were cut from a svg that I bought ages ago from the Silhouette Online Store.  I love how the red pops out from the white.

Best clear up my craft room now - it's amazing how much mess I can create making just 2 cards!!!!!!!!
