Less is More Challenge - Something Tactile

As I have been out of crafting for a couple of months I haven't entered any challenges for a while so this card has been made for the Less is More Challenge Weeks 286 & 287

RECIPE:  Use Something Tactile

As soon as I read the word 'tactile' I knew that I had to use the 'Ewe Are The Best' stamps by MFT and my Liquid Applique.  I'm a big kid at heart & I love using this stuff and watching it fluff up as I blast it with my heat gun!!

I also added some Glossy Accents to the balloon and die cut the word 'celebrate' which is by Clearly Besotted.  They are mounted onto a panel cut out from WPlus9 Sunshine Layers which is foam mounted onto a white card base.

I coloured the sheep and balloon using Copic markers and added a few spots to the hat using a white pigment gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.  I am staying with my sister in Oxford this weekend and shall be giving my niece a couple of presents I have made for her baby due in November....blog post on Monday.  I hope she and her husband likes them.  I am really pleased with how they turned out :-)

Clearly Besotted - Petite Plushies

The lady who owns our favourite coffee shop in our home town, had her first baby last week, a little boy.  So I have made her this card using Clearly Besotted's Petite Plushies.  I love all the little animals in this set and use them a LOT on other cards.

I created and cut the 'welcome baby' sentiment out on my Silhouette Cameo and coloured it and the little plushies with Copics.  I also used my Cameo to cut the BOY letters out of Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid paper pack.

As my Copic Ciaos are starting to dry up now, I decided to replace them with the Copic Sketch which although more expensive means I can buy the ink to refill them.  I bought 12 this month and will buy another 12 next month so it will take me a while to build up my collection but I so enjoy learning to colour with them.  I also bought and downloaded Sandy Allnock's Copic Hex Chart which is REALLY helpful in deciding which markers to buy and which ones go well together.  Sandy is soooo talented and I could watch her videos all day!  I wish she would come to the UK and do some classes here.

Watercoloured Birdies - Welcome Tweet One

What a numpty head I can be....I totally forgot to upload my blog post for Monday.  Mind you hubby has gone away today for a few weeks working in the Arctic (rather him than me as I prefer the heat to the 'freeze your cods off' cold) so I have got an excuse for being late.

Anyway I got my Zigs out to watercolour this little card with some of the birdies from Winnie and Walter's 'So Tweet' stamp set.

I have found that using the right watercolour paper with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers does make a difference.  At first when I got them I tried them out on some watercolour card I had from WH Smith and they didn't blend very well at all but I didn't want to spend a fortune on card and eventually found that the Bockingford Aquarelle (NOT) watercolour card by St Cuthberts Mill works really well.  I bought it from my local art shop but you can buy it from Jackson's Art here.

I even ventured really scarily into using a 'Manual' setting on my camera just to see if I could take a better picture using natural daylight.  I think it turned out ok for my first attempt away from 'Auto' so I shall keep experimenting!!

With my hubby away I shall be spending longer in my craft room....happy face!! :-)

Hedgehog Gift Card

Hello there and today I am sharing a quick little hedgehog gift card that I made after I found some handbag/purse size mini nail files in our local tourist gift shop.

Hedgehog nail file gift card made using my silhouette cameo

As soon as I saw them, I snapped them up especially as they only cost 99p!

I created my own hedgehog cut file in Silhouette Design Studio and made it so that it was large enough to hold the little package inside.

To finish him off I added some glossy accents to his nose and eye.

Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Hedgehogs

I have been busy decorating our utility room all weekend, and today, on the hottest day of the year, I did all the gloss work on the wood, including our front door.  I did paint our front door a couple of weeks ago with what was supposed to be 'high gloss' paint and I was hoping it would have a shine on it like No. 10 Downing Street....but it was more matte than gloss!!  But it's looking very glossy now after today's coat!

Anyway, I did pop in out of the heat to make this card using Clearly Besotted 'Happy Hugs' but this time I used the hedgehogs instead of those cute bears.

I even managed to snap a shot out in the garden (under the parasol) as the sun picks up the gold embossing powder on the trees which are again by Clearly Besotted 'Birch Background'.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the hedgehogs and is heat embossed in white and the banner is cut using a die I picked up in the sale at CB called Long Flag Die.

I've now got to go and pick off the dead flies that landed on my newly painted front door whilst it was wet!!

Watercoloured card with Zigs

I've been playing with my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers again to make this thank you card.  One of the girls at our firm of accountants is leaving and as she has been brilliant in helping me with our quarterly VAT return, I wanted to make a card as a thank you along with a little gift too.

I heat embossed some flowers from a Waltzing Mouse stamp set called Funky Flowers onto some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour card.  I then 'swished' some different colours onto the flowers with the Zigs and used an aqua brush to spread the colour out.

I cut out the word 'thanks' from some gold card using a Stampin' Up! die (not sure if it is still available) and then added the 'you've been wonderful' sentiment by heat embossing onto some black card.

I did make a boo boo when I made this card as I missed a small leaf in the bottom right when I was heating the embossing powder with my heat gun. I only discovered this when my Zig marker picked up a load of powder and made a mushy mess....sentiments are great for hiding mistakes!!!!

Happy Hugs - Clearly Besotted

As soon as I saw the July release by Clearly Besotted which I think is one of their best,  I knew I had to have the Happy Hugs stamp set.  It is soooo cute and I particularly love the bears as will my niece who is also fond of bears!!

I decided to make a shaker card and cut the scalloped hole using the Mama Elephant Columbus Circle die.  I filled it with the Gold Dust Shaker Mix from Lucy's Cards and coloured the sun on the inside using some Copic markers.

I have recently decorated and re-arranged my craft room so that my desk is now in front of the window.  As a fan of Debbie Hughes and also her amazing card photography, I wanted to use natural light to take my photos rather than the laborious task of setting up lights etc. hence moving the location of my desk.  But it proves difficult when the day is gloomy and overcast.  I'll keep trying though to get those nice, bright photos that Debbie takes!

I also made a bookmark using the same set

Love Cows Card

Today's blog post is a card I created a while ago using another free digi download from Justinklined.
This stamp is called 'Love Cows'.

Just ink Lined - free digi stamp 'Love Cows'
This is the original free digi download.
I imported it into my Silhouette software so that I could create a cut line for the cows to save me from having to fussy cut them out as I am pretty rubbish at using scissors!!  I coloured them in using Copic markers.

I also separated the plane & banner from the cows and printed them out onto some white linen card

I mounted the card front onto some Slate Grey card and then again onto a White Linen cardbase.

Birthday Quackers

I have been away from my craft room and blogging for a while now because at the end of May my mum died.

It was my mum that started me off on my crafting journey a few years ago as she was an avid card maker.  Apart from everything else that I thank my amazing mum for, I thank her for giving me a love of all things crafty that keeps me happy for hours, sane and through which I have got to know some amazingly talented people.

I haven't even felt the urge to go in my craft room for quite a while but today I did and here is the card I made with a free digital stamp I downloaded from Just Ink Lined Stamps called Quackers. I only discovered them recently and they have got some brilliant digital stamps in their shop and lots of free ones of which this is one.

I printed the stamp twice and coloured the ducks with my Copics.  I coloured another set of feet and fussy cut them out so that it would give these little ducks a bit of dimension.

I die cut the word Happy and layered some Glossy Accents on top.
I cut a window out of some card, behind which I stuck my ducks and added their feet over the top.

I love how this one turned out and I even experimented using natural light to take my photos as it is so much easier than faffing about with lights etc.  It was a bright day so there was a fair bit of light coming through the windows today rather than the gloomy haze that there has been lately!!
