Friends For All Seasons - WPlus9

Do you ever make a card and can't decide if you like it or not?  Well this is one of those cards.  I have used WPlus9's Friends For All Seasons (which I DO like - a lot!) to make this card...

Friends For All Seasons from WPlus 9

I used watercolours to make the background and then cut it out using a MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles die.  I coloured the bears in with Copic markers and wanted to make them look like they were being whisked away by a strong gust of wind especially as it has been quite windy here recently.  Where die the Summer go?  Oh yes, I forgot.... it was a Bank Holiday weekend so it was bound to rain!!  The sun did pop out a bit though so I can't complain too much.

I added some patterned paper that picked out the colours from the main card and layered that underneath and then put this onto an orange card base and then I spent a few days looking at it wondering whether I liked it or not.  My style of cardmaking has changed over the years and I like CAS (clean and simple).  The jury's still out on it but as I haven't done any crafting for a few days I thought I would pop this up on my blog anyway.

House Mouse - Cake

I decided to use a stamp that I haven't used before by House Mouse Designs (Joanna Sheen) called 'Cake'.  I love the little mice in these designs but for some reason I always find them hard to colour so I had a go at colouring one of the smaller stamps in this set.

House Mouse Designs 'Cake' used to make a birthday card

I can remember buying this stamp along with a few other House Mouse Designs when I went to the NEC Craft Fair for the first time ever with my mum.  That was a few years ago and it has sat in a box waiting to be used.  I thought at first he was blowing up a balloon but I think it's bubble gum?

The sentiment is from a Peel-off that I also bought when I was with my mum when we visited her favourite craft shop in Wantage which is now sadly closed.  That was a good few year's ago also!!

I want to enter this card into two challenges this week.  The first one is the Simply Less is More Challenge Week #291 where the Recipe this week is:

Sticker, Sticky Label or Peel-Off

I have only recently discovered this challenge and the very sweet and funny Darnell J Knauss who hosts the challenge over on her blog.

Tag You're It Challenge

I have made a tag today that I am entering into the Tag You're It Challenge.  This is the tag by the very talented Michelle Short that I have based my design on.

I have gone with a flower theme too and a bit of a watercoloured background.

WPlus9 Blanket Stitched Blooms used to make a tag for the Tag You're It! Challenge #54

I used the Blanket Stitched Blooms stamps by WPlus9 and the sentiment is from Woodland Gifts from Mama Elephant.  The flowers were coloured with Copics and then I added some Glossy Accents to the flower centres.

I splattered some Picket Fence Distress Spray onto the background once I had finished.

Back soon...

Challenge Winner & Honey Bee Bear Card

Well I found out yesterday that I have won a challenge over at Addicted to CAS with this card where the theme was 'MUSIC'.  Yay!  Happy dance!  And to top it all I won a $15 voucher to spend at Happy Little Stampers...Yay and more happy dancing!!

It also means that I will be their guest designer in a challenge that starts on 3rd September which is a bit nerve wracking.

Anyway, enough dancing.  I've made a card today using another new stamp set that I know is going to be used LOTS!  WPlus9 Curious Forest Friends.

Curious Forest Friends by WPlus9 - Honey bear Card

I stamped the honeypot over some watercoloured card using versamark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

I then coloured the honeypot using my Zig Clean Color markers and used a blue watercolour wash.

After it was dried I added the little bees and again coloured them with Zigs.  I then cut the watercoloured panel using Sunshine Layers and layered it onto a black card base.

The sentiment is from the same set and the bear has been coloured with Copics and fussy cut out.

You will probably see a LOAD more cards using these stamp sets in the future....I'll try not to overdo it!

Aloha Turtle

I made this card for this week's challenge over at Less is More and the theme is 'Exotic'.  I racked my brain (didn't take long!) and then because I don't really have any stamps that fitted the theme, I searched online and found this funny dancing turtle digi stamp on Etsy by Amy Stirland whose shop is called Artpixie.

So here's my card....

A dancing turtle Aloha card made for the Less is More Challenge 'Exotic'

I wasn't sure what colours a turtle was meant to be and there are lots of different ones on google so I just picked some greens and put them where I thought they should be - he looks a bit 'Ninja' to me and perhaps he's doing a karate kick rather than a dance?!!

I printed him along with the 'Aloha' sentiment and after colouring decided I needed a bit of an exotic pink/purple element so added the flower.  I also added some Wink of Stella to both the flowers.

I mounted the top layer on foam to a card base in Raspberry Pink by Papermilldirect.

I hope he's exotic enough for the challenge?!!!

Forest Friends - WPlus9

After promising myself that I would be good this month and not order any crafting supplies, when I saw the latest release from WPlus9 I was very naughty and ordered 3 stamp sets and matching dies.  I have always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh and this set and also 'Curious Friends' (which I also bought) reminds me of him.

The one I have used to make today's card is called Forest Friends

WPlus9 Forest Friends

I started off by watercolouring a night sky background using my Zig Clean Colour Brush markers and then added a few stars using a white Uni-ball Signo pen and some sequins by Lucy's Cards.

I layered a piece of white card over the top and cut out the frame using the Peek a Boo rectangle die from MFT.

Thinking of You card made using WPlus9 Forest Friends

I coloured the bear using Copics and fussy cut him out.

The sentiment was heat embossed onto some of the watercoloured card left over from the background.

Have a great weekend, back on Monday with another card using my new crafting stash!

Life is good with glitter!

I am back today with another heat transfer project that I did over the weekend.  I saw a T-shirt by Heidi Swapp with a 'Life is Good' slogan on a black t-shirt with gold vinyl so although we can buy Heidi Swapp stuff over in the UK (I love all things Heidi) I doubt we will be able to buy the t-shirts over here or as cheaply as I made mine!

Life is Good T-shirt made with gold glitter heat transfer vinyl
I spent ages trying to get the photo to pick up just how lovely that gold glitter HTV is in real life but my photos don't do it justice.  It is GORGEOUS!!
I bought the T-shirt in a sale when I went shopping with a friend last week for £5 and it is really soft and of a good quality.  I already had the heat transfer vinyl so it was just a case of creating a file in Silhouette Studio using my trusty Cameo and cutting it all out and weeding the vinyl.
DIY gold glitter heat transfer vinyl t-shirt made using my Silhouette Cameo
I ironed the HTV on the T-Shirt and I am not sure yet how it will wash (because I ironed it as opposed to using a heat press) but I gave it a good hard press after I had peeled off the transfer sheet and I always use a silicon sheet between the material and iron to stop it scorching.  I also use a piece of wood that I put underneath the t-shirt on my kitchen worktop so that I can press really hard rather than using the ironing board.
You can buy sheets of the HTV at MDP Supplies here in the UK and they sell it in sheets rather than having to spend a fortune on rolls.
You can buy lots of lovely colours and I'll be honest, I haven't had much luck with the pink glitter htv despite the sheet I bought being replaced by MDP as it left a pink stain around the edges on anything I ironed it on.  It was apparently a bad batch and hopefully that is now sorted, but the gold glitter works absolutely BEAUTIFULLY!
Now....what can I make next?!!  Would my husbean like a glitter T-Shirt?!!!  I can hear him screaming NO!!!!!!

Too early for Christmas?!!

I know it is too early for Christmas cards (well it is for me!) but I wanted to enter the challenge over at Addicted to CAS which is....

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/challenge-94-music.html

I went through my stash of stamps and eventually found this one that my mum gave me when I first started crafting and I think it is a Penny Black stamp but I'm not sure.

Addicted to CAS Music challenge - singing Christmas dog card

I coloured the dog and little birdie in with Copic markers and as I didn't have an appropriate sentiment, I cut the 'fa la la' out of black vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo.

I used the MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles to cut my top layer and a pale grey card base.

At least I can say I have made a start on my Christmas cards!!  I was very late last year.

Ooh La La One Layer Card

Yes I am posting on a Sunday but as my husbean is away I get to spend more time making a mess in my craft room!

I am also super duper excited to be a LIM ShowCASe Winner for my sheep card which you can see HERE

So today I am entering this week's Less is More Challenge #289 which is a ONE LAYER CARD - Theme 'Something French'.

I find one layer cards really difficult but I managed to come up with one in the end!

Less is More Challenge #289 Something French

I coloured the bunnies (Mama Elephant 'Honey Bunny') with Copics in the colours of the French flag.  I knew there was red, white and blue on the flag but had to google which way round the colours went!

The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse 'Compact Sentiments'   I used my Zig Real Clean Brush markers to colour the stamp and used my (couldn't be without) Misti to line it all up.  I couldn't resist adding some Glossy Accents to their noses and moustaches although the light reflecting on the glossy accents looks like they have eaten ice cream!!

Voila!

Splat Cat Bookmark!

Just a quickie today but first off let me say I am an animal lover but when I saw this bookmark by BenMcfuzzylugs on Etsy, it made me laugh so I knew I had to try and recreate something similar but made out of card.

I used my Silhouette Cameo and here is the result....

Cat Splat bookmark made using the Silhouette Cameo

I created the cut file in Silhouette Design Studio and cut the black base layer out twice just to strengthen the bookmark and then added his eyes, tummy etc. again using my Cameo to cut them out.

Silhouette Cameo used to make a cat splat bookmark

I used a white Signo uni-ball pen to add his paws and a black Sharpie to blob some dots on his eyes and tummy.  Very quick and easy.

Hope you like it and I do apologise to all the cat lovers out there!! :-)

Less is More Challenge #288 Blue & Brown

Today I am using one of my favourite stamps by MFT Build-able Bouquet to enter this week's challenge over at Simply Less is More.

The challenge is Blue & Brown.

MFT Build-able Bouquet

I heat embossed the flowers in white on watercolour card and I was originally going to watercolour them but changed my mind and used my Copics instead.  I wasn't sure if they would blend ok but I'm happy with how it turned out.

I also heat embossed the sentiment which is from PTI Funky Florals and then mounted it onto some Mocha Brown card from Papermilldirect.

Thanks for stopping by.

Gerda Steiner Monthly Challenge

Today I have made a card that I am going to enter into Gerda Steiner's Monthly Challenge.  I have only recently discovered her brilliant stamps and she also sells digi stamps too.
http://gsd-stamps.com/blogs/news/augusts-challenge
The stamp for this month's challenge is a digi one and is called Cute Fox.

Gerda Steiner Monthly Challenge for August using a digi stamp Cute Fox

I coloured the fox with Copics and fussy cut him (or her) out.  I originally coloured 3 of these, one being larger as I was going to group them but I decided to go with just the one and will use the others on another project.

I stamped up a piece of card with a woodgrain stamp and then cut out the centre using Mama Elephant Columbus Circle die.  I added a WPlus9 Spring Wreath cut out using green and a coral colour card.

The outer circle is by MFT Stitched Scallop Circle Frame.

Gerda Steiner Cute Fox digi stamp for August's Monthly Challenge

I then stamped the sentiment which is by Waltzing Mouse 'Compact Sentiments 2' using my Misti and some chocolate dye ink.  I was then going to leave the stamp in place and ink it up with Versamark ink so that I could heat emboss using clear embossing powder.  Well I must have had my noodle head on (as usual) because I took the stamp off my misti before I'd used the Versamark..... hence the slightly offset look to the sentiment!!!  Ooops!!

Mind you, I do sometimes offset text so I could have pretended I did it on purpose?!!!!!

Shaker Bookmark

During the recent sale at Clearly Besotted, I bought a stamp set called Bookworm Additions and the matching dies and I used them to make this shaker bookmark.
Clearly Besotted Bookworm Additions used to make a shaker bookmark
I cut the tag shape out on my Silhouette Cameo and used my WRMK Fuse Tool to create the little shaker pocket and filled it with some Lily White sequins from Lucy's Cards.  I sandwiched the tag with a Reverse Confetti Quick Card Panel called 'Hoppin Dots and attached the little worm that I had coloured in with my Copics and I also heat embossed the sentiment that comes with the stamp set.

I added a grommet to the top of the tag and made a tassel to go through the top using some pink hemp cord.
Thank you for visiting my blog and have a great weekend.

The Cats Pajamas - Bloom

I bought this stamp in a sale a few months ago and I thought he was so cute he needed to be put into a card and used.  I actually found him hard to colour as I find shading a bit confusing even though I understand the principles of where the light is coming from etc.  I used my Copics to colour him.

So here is my bunny wabbit.....

Cats Pajamas Bloom birthday card

I wanted his big ears to flop outside a frame so I used the Columbus Circle die from Mama Elephant and carefully cut around his ears....I didn't want an earless wabbit!!

I finished him off by adding some glossy accents to his nose and adding a 'hugs' sentiment which is a copy of a die that I WANT NEED by Winnie and Walter but as I don't have it yet, I cut it out on my Cameo instead.
