Huggy Bear

Do you remember Huggy Bear from Starsky & Hutch?  Well this post has nothing to do with him but I have made a card featuring a bear and hugs for the latest challenge over at CASology.

CASology Challenge Week 217 - Cute

I used some Zig Clean Color markers to make the background and cut the 'hugs' out 3 times and layered it to give it a bit of dimension.

The bear is from WPlus9 Forest Friends and the stars were cut out using some Memory Box dies.

That's all for this week so have a great weekend wherever you are and whatever you are doing.  I will be cutting vinyl with my trusty Silhouette Cameo and making some nursery decorations for my niece who is expecting her first baby in November...exciting!  I will also be making some window decorations for a local shop that my friend manages.  She wants a nutcracker theme.  Got to get my thinking head on for that one!!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop - Fall

Let me start off by saying I LOVE coffee.  I hated the stuff until I was in my early 40s and then I was persuaded to try a Mocha in a well known coffee shop chain.  I drank that for a few months and then ventured onto lattes with syrup, then lattes without syrup and eventually black coffee which is what I drink now.
I came across the Coffee Lovers Blog and saw that they did a blog hop and this week it is a Fall theme.  It runs out at the end of September so I have again just squeezed in by the skin of my teeth!
I used my coffee cup as inspiration!
Fall Theme for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop
I have used a stamp set by L'il Inker called Coffee Talk.  I wanted to use Autumn/Fall colours in my card so I used Zig Clean Color markers to create the background and also to colour in the coffee cup.
I cut out the word 'coffee' using some wood grain card (reminds me of Autumnal wood fires) using a file I created in my Silhouette Cameo software.  I layered it 3 times with an offset piece of card in Mocha (how apt!) and then added some wonky stitch lines down the size by MFT'Homespun Stitch Lines'.

Woodware Hand Drawn Greetings

Hello there.  I am back with another Woodware stamp that I bought recently called 'Hand Drawn Greetings.  There are 3 different greetings in this stamp set and I have used one of them today to create two more Christmas cards.
Woodware Hand Drawn Greetings

I used Copic markers to colour in the words and leaves and then added a bit of bling with some Xmas Red Stickles.
When I visited Hobbycraft recently I found some red balls which I knew would be useful for something especially as they were in the bargain bucket and I can't resist a bargain so I have added them with some holly leaves to add a bit of fluff to my card!!  I am also thinking Rudolph noses perhaps?!!

The Winter nights are drawing in and I had to rush to take these photos before the light faded.  Just about managed it.

Watercoloured Sheep

I've got a peeping sheep card today which I half watercoloured with Zigs and half Copic'd (is that a word?).
Happy Birthday to Ewe card using Eggstraordinary Egghunt by Create A Smile
I used the sheep from Create A Smile 'Eggstraordinary Egghunt and watercoloured it with my Zig markers on some Ranger Watercolour Card.  I also used the zigs for the background sky, bird, heart and the card frame.
I used a Tim Holtz stencil to create the wall which I heat embossed and then used some distress ink to colour in between the bricks.
I added some 'artistic splodges' of black to the sky and then stared at the card for ages thinking it needed something else so I added a bird from Avery Elle 'Let it Snow' and a bee from Lawn Fawn 'Bee Mine'.
Sheep Birthday card using Zig markers and Copic colouring
I used Glossy Accents on the heart and then stuck on some googly eyes onto the sheep.  He reminds me of Shaun The Sheep from the animation of the same name and which I love and always makes me laugh!
Hope you like it!

I've Gone Nuts & Craft Room Storage Idea

I think some of my family and friends would say that I was already nuts but my title today refers to a card that I have made for the Addicted to CAS Challenge and the Code Word is:-
And here is my card......
Addicted to CAS Challenge - Stitched
I cut the acorn and leaves with my Silhouette Cameo and put some stitching lines around them with a white Signo Uni Ball pen.
The sentiment is from a stamp set that I have had for a while now and is by Papertrey Ink and is called, appropriately enough, 'Stitched Sentiments'.
The white card was die cut using WPlus9 Sunshine Layers.

I am still trying to sort out my craft (daft) room after I decorated it back in the Summer but one of the bits I did buy and that I got my husbean to put up at the weekend was some Elfa shelving.  I only discovered it when I was researching ways to better organise my crafty shtuff and as there was 30% off at the time I bought it.
Craft Room storage ideas - Elfa Shelving
The 'peg' board is made from metal and all the containers and shelves are made to slot into it.   I have got another shelf to put up and I also want to buy some more containers to put the bits and bobs into that I use most often.  You can see my NEW trusty Silhouette Cameo 3 which I have yet to name, sitting below.  My original Cameo was called Charlie!!
You can buy the Elfa Shelving HERE and they even offer a free design service.  I am not being paid for this plug by the way but as I am always searching for more ways to better organise and store my crafting items I thought it might be of interest to you crafty people.
Have a great weekend.

Woodland Card

Just a quickie today as I am a bit behind this week with my blog posts but here's a card I made at the weekend using...again....WPlus9 Forest Friends.
I coloured the raccoon using Copic markers and the popped him on top of some brown card that I had heat embossed with a wood effect stamp.
WPlus9 Forest Friends card
I then stamped, coloured and cut out using the matching dies, lots of leaves & a few mushrooms.   I used one of the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies, which I think is meant to be for clouds, but I thought it worked equally well as tree foliage.  I then used one of the other Mama Elephant trio dies for the grassy hill at the bottom.
Toodles for now.

Barking Up The Wrong Tree?!!

I hope you have all had a great weekend.  We had some lovely warm sunshine here in the Peak District so I tried not to spend a lot of time in my daft room crafting even though my Cameo has been calling me.....
I have made a card though which I am entering into the CASology Week 215 challenge which finishes today so I have got in by the skin of my teeth!!
Here's my card.....
Entry to CASology challenge Week 215 - Bark

As soon as I read the word 'bark' I thought of a doggie but then I thought I could also add a 'bark' effect to the card as a double whammy!
I cut the WOOF part of the card out on some brown card on my Silhouette Cameo using a cut file I created myself.  I then heat embossed a wood effect background using white embossing powder.
I coloured with Copics and fussy cut one of the dogs from MFT 'You Make My Tail Wag' and artistically plonked him on top, adding a little bone to his mouth.
I die cut a little tag from Reverse Confetti 'Flower Wrap' and tied it to the card using some Hemptique twine.

...and as fast as you can say 'woof' it's finished!!!

Little Christmas Bird

I don't think it's too early for Christmas cards now we are in September so I have made a couple of cards using a fairly new stamp by Woodware called Little Christmas Bird.
I love the red and white Nordic look for Christmas so that are the colours I have gone with...
Woodware Little Christmas Bird red and white card
I used a technique I had seen Jennifer McGuire use in one of her videos where she stamped and heat embossed images on two different coloured cards using the Misti so that they are placed in exactly the same place on each card and then cutting each one in half and matching them up.
Red and White Christmas card made with Woodware Little Christmas Bird stamp
So after my boo boo mistakes on Monday, I have now discovered that my heat tool is on its way out and conks after each embossing.  I have to wait until it cools down before it will work again so it took aaaaages to make these cards.  And then I don't think the powder has set all that well either.  So a new heat gun has now been added to my ever increasing 'absolutely essential' crafting wish list!

Did I say it was my burfday on Monday?  Well I have been asking (no... make that nagging) my husbean that I needed the new Cameo 3 to replace my trusty Charlie Cameo 1 ever since I saw that Silhouette were bringing it out.  Well that nagging hinting paid off...look what I got to play with on Monday!
I have got a bit of a learning curve as I never updated my Legacy version software as there had been problems with the new V3 software but I had to update for the Cameo 3 and it has worked fine for me so far with no glitches.  Having that dual blade holder is great.  Anyway I am probably boring you non Silhouette users out there so I shall stop waffling on and go back to stroking my new toy!

More Forest Friends

Hi there I am back after taking a short break as my husband came home at the beginning of September after 6 weeks working away so I have been spending time with him instead of crafting.  But today, Sunday, I managed to sneak in a quick bit of card making and came up with this card using WPlus9 Forest Friends...
WPlus9 Forest Friends - sleeping raccoon

So I have to admit that this card was rushed and therefore Wendy made a few boo boos!  The first mistake was when I decided to double emboss the sentiment to give it a bit more dimension and originally it was underneath where the raccoon was sleeping and he was supposed to lie on top.  I stamped it using my Misti but because I was rushing I didn't notice that the card had moved and so when I stamped it again over the first embossing I didn't stamp in the right place...ooooh!  I was annoyed with myself!
So rather than start again I die cut some stars out of glitter card and placed them over the sentiment to hide my boo boo.
Forest Friends by WPlus 9 used to make a Thinking of You card
My second boo boo, and not quite as bad, was when I decided to make some artistic splatters with some white paint on top of my background.  Unfortunately I didn't tap off the excess so I ended up with an artistic splodge rather than a can see it but I thought I'd done enough covering up of mistakes so I left it!
I promise to do better next time!!
I have also used Avery Elle 'Falling Snow' die and MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles.

Guest Designer - Addicted to CAS

Today I am really chuffed, honoured and slightly nervous to be the Guest Designer over at the Addicted to CAS Challenge, where the code word is:-
This one proved tricky for me as we don't really celebrate the harvest here in the UK and I wanted to make a card that I could use again so after much head scratching, here is my card....
Addicted to CAS Challenge Code Word 'Harvest'
When I think of Harvest, I am always reminded of pumpkins from when we had harvest festival at school and someone always brought in a pumpkin.
I didn't have any harvest related stamps so when I saw this digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs on Etsy, I had to buy it,  particularly as it also had a cute hedgehog peeking out of it!
Pumpkin Hedgehog card made for the Addicted to CAS Challenge 'Harvest'
I traced around the image in my Silhouette Cameo and cut it out leaving a small white border and then coloured it with my Copic markers.
I cut out a piece of white card using the MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles and then double heat embossed the sentiment (Waltzing Mouse - Compact Sentiments) using clear embossing powder and Chocolate Chip ink.  I layered this onto some brown and kraft card and popped it up with some foam dimensional tape.
I hope you like it and please hop on over to the Addicted to CAS blog to see what the very talented regular designers have come up with.

I actually made this card back in August when I was kindly asked to be guest designer.  My husband got back yesterday after 6 weeks and I wanted everything sorted before he got home so I may be a bit quiet on the blog front for a few days :-)

Watercoloured Birthday Card

It was my niece's birthday yesterday and I got her a Next Gift Voucher as a present.  I loved the watercoloured design on the gift card so I ATTEMPTED to copy it!  I was going to take the easy way out and use some stamps and watercolour over the top of them but why take the easy way????  So I decided to have a go at freehand watercolouring...can't be too difficult I thought...I've watched loads of videos of the amazing Kristina Werner so I know what I'm supposed to do....right??
Watercoloured birthday card - first attempt!

I was WRONG.  Kristina makes it all look effortless because she has talent.  I don't -  but hey - I still had great fun having a go and getting paint everywhere.

I used my Winsor & Newton Sketchers Box of watercolours, splashing randomly where I thought the paint should go and doing my best to copy the gift card on the left....just in case you thought that was my card - which is on the right!!

I also stamped on an envelope using Concord & 9th 'Sophisticated Script' which is a whole much easier to use if you have a Misti to line the letters up.

Watercoloured birthday card made to match Next Gift Card

I added some Stickles (I think I went a bit overboard) to give it a glittery shimmer and then die cut the word 'celebrate' (Clearly Besotted) out of gold card.

My first attempt at freehand watercolouring to make a birthday card
I think overall I am quite pleased with how it turned out even though it's got that sort of 'a child painted it' look!

I hope my niece liked it :-)
