Happy Mail Stickers

Hi there.  I have been away this weekend visiting family so I wrote this post before I left as I knew I wouldn't have time to make any cards.

I buy a few things from Etsy as there are some really talented people that sell there and while I was browsing the other day I found a graphic in this shop by Kira Nichols which she had used to make into an envelope sticker.  I love the trend of decorating envelopes so I wanted to see if I could colour this in Silhouette Design Studio and then cut it out using my Cameo on sticker paper.

I managed to do it and here it is.  I have used basically the same colours that Kira used on hers for the first sheet but changed them slightly on the second sheet.

I am definitely going to buy the other 'mail' graphics which Kira sells as a bundle to make some different ones.

 Toodles,

Christmas Shaker Gift Tag

Today I have a Christmas shaker gift tag to share that was inspired by the amazing Jennifer McGuire's blog post HERE.

She made here into ornaments but I thought I would make mine into a gift tag.  I know my effort in no way matches Jennifer's but I had fun making it and my husbean commented how much he liked it when he made a rare visit to my craft room.

Christmas Shaker Gift Tag made using MFT Stitched Scallop Circle Frames

I die cut several circles using MFT Stitched Scallop Circle Frames and glued them together along with some acetate to create the shaker part.  I used some distress inks to colour a background and added some Little Things sequins by Lucy's Cards.

The bear is from WPlus9 Friends For All Seasons and the sentiment is from a retired stamp set by Clearly Besotted which I heat embossed.

I die cut the banner from using my Silhouette Cameo and a piece of watercoloured card that I had left over from another project.

Have you noticed I am polka dotting everything in my projects just lately?!!

Slugs & Snails.....

The challenge over at Simply Less is More this week is

SPIDERS OR INSECTS

I have to say that the thought of making another spider card was worrying me - what with my phobia - and after my husband waking me up in the early hours of Sunday morning because I was screaming during one of my regular spider nightmares (sad but yes it's true!) I decided I wasn't going to make a spider card....so I have gone with a snail instead.  Ok...I know a snail is not strictly an insect as it's in the class Gastropoda (I had to look that up) but I look on them as insecty pests as they eat my summer bedding  - the flowers that is - not my duvet!

Snail New Home Card using Penny Black 'Critter Party' stamp

I have used an old stamp by Penny Black called Critter Party and I coloured it with Copics.  The sentiment is by Little Clare Designs 'At Home'.

Again this is one of those cards where I kept wanting to put more on it but in the end I left it as is apart from adding some Wink of Stella to the snail's body to give him some slime.

MFT - Merry Everything

I wasn't going to buy any stamps this month (I always say that) but when I saw the reindeers in the new release by My Favorite Things called Merry Everything I had to buy it.  It's their faces that make me smile :-)

Merry Everything by My Favorite Things

I wanted to use my distress inks on the background and rather than go for the usual blues, I went with a pink and purple hue by using Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac and I used the Falling Snow die by Avery Elle at the top.

I coloured the reindeer in with Copic markers and then die cut out some mountains using a die set which also just happened to fall in my online shopping basket which is 'Snow Capped Mountains' again by MFT.  I added some Wink of Stella to the mountain tops.

The snow is cut out using a Mama Elephant Landscape Trio die.

I love how this turned out and will be using that colour combination a lot from now on.

It's been a mixed weekend here in the Peak District.  Sunny yesterday and a wet, rainy day today (Sunday as I type this blog post).  Husbean has been busy sorting out his man cave again this weekend so it's meant more time spent in my daft (craft) room - bliss!

I shall be entering this card into Seven Hills Craft Challenge for October.

And some great news I was a showcase winner on the Less is More Challenge for the Lilac and Turquoise card I made HERE

and the same card also made it as an Honourable mention over on the CASology Challenge - Cute

YAY!!

I only have eyes for you!

I've been a bit behind this week because I was decorating my husbean's Man Cave.  I finished doing all the walls and woodwork last weekend so I had no time to make any cards.  Anyhoo, I have managed to sneak in a quick one for this week's CASology Challenge which is ......

http://casology.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/week-219-spooky.html

I'd already made a spooky card last week but posted it before this challenge was released :-(

So, here is my latest card...

Spooky Halloween Card

I have got lots of eyes - not on my face but in my crafty stash!  I love using them on cute critters but this time they are dark and spooky monstaaahhhs!!!!!!!!

I cut some black card and then used a stencil to heat emboss the black spots before cutting it apart to form a crack where all the monstaaahhs hide.  I layered this onto a cardbase using foam pads.

I cut out the speech bubble and 'BOO' using my Cameo and then stuck all the googly eyes into the crack.

CASology Challenge Week 219: Spooky

I shall hopefully get some time this weekend to make some more cards as my husbean will be busy sorting out his man cave.  He had the carpet fitters in on Tuesday and I noticed he had bought a very nice and not cheap bit of Berber....hmmm....nothing like that went in my craft room.
A new comfy chair and wall clock are being installed as I type this but I have yet to see any beer fridge!

Perhaps I should put this card in his man cave to keep an eye on what is going on in there!!

One Layer Card - Garden Variety

Why are one layer cards so hard to do?  I really struggle with them and for some reason just keep wanting to add more to them despite me liking CAS designs.  Anyway this week's challenge over at Simply Less is More is exactly that - a one layer card with the theme DREAMS.

I  racked my brains (didn't take long) trying to think if I had any stamps I could use.  Well I finally found this stamp set by Papertrey Ink which I bought a few years ago and have never used.  Shame on you Wendy!!  It's called 'Garden Variety' and it is such a pretty stamp I shall use it more often.

Papertrey Ink Garden Variety stamps used in the Less is More Dreams one layer card challenge

The sentiment has the word 'dream' in it so that is what I went with although when I first saw the challenge I had other ideas in my head on how to interpret it.

I added some dots to the watering can with a white gel pen.

One thing I will say for one layer cards is that they can be pretty quick to make although I had to stamp this twice as I smudged some ink on the first one.

So head on over to the challenge as they have an amazing design team who come up with some fantastic cards every week.  They are very inspirational.

Incy Wincy Spider......

Let me start of by saying I have a really BIG phobia for spiders so even making this card made me feel queasy!  But here is my incy wincy spidery card.....

Halloween Spooky Spider card using Inkadinkadoo stamps

I started off by using some mini distress inks that I was given for my birthday.  I only had 3 colours before I was given these so I am slowly building up my collection.  I struggled at first but after a few trials of varying pressure and cardstock I got the hang of blending the inks.

I used Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac and Spiced Marmalade.

The stamp is a VERY old one that I got free when I first started stamping and is by Inkadinkadoo.

Spooky Halloween Card made using vinyl and Silhouette Cameo 3

I used a cut file from the Silhouette Shop for the word Spooky & the cobwebs and cut it out using black vinyl on my Cameo.  Vinyl always cuts well on intricate designs.

I then stamped the spider using my Misti and added some googly eyes to make him look cuter - not that spiders could ever be described as cute in my mind!!!

Now that 'eek' sentiment was actually stamped straight onto the background but the ink pad I used was too wet and the word bled - not happy!  So I had to stamp it using versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Disaster averted.  New ink pads required!

Spider card using black vinyl cut on the Silhouette Cameo 3

I know it's pathetic being afraid of spiders but my mum was and so I guess I picked it up from her.  I was on the point of moving out of our house a couple of weeks ago as we seemed to be infested with GIANT (and I do mean GIANT!) spiders that kept appearing in the hall, stairs and one even started running towards me on the sofa!!  Apparently Derbyshire has had a plague of false widow spiders this year and I nearly contacted the local pest controller to come and smoke them out of our house but at the moment they seem to be under control.  I even resorted to taping up the front door when it rained to stop them coming inside - they obviously don't like rain.

My husbean said he is going to send me on a course at London Zoo which will eliminate my fear - apparently there is a waiting list as they have a 100% success rate!  Unless it's a trick by my husbean to get me locked up in a zoo!!

Some Bunny.....

Well I finally managed to get a card made this week.

I have used a stamp set by Mama Elephant - Honey Bunny, which I haven't used for a while.

CASology Challenge, Less is More Challenge entries using Mama Elephant Honey Bunny stamps

I coloured the bunnies with Copics and added some Liquid Applique to their tails.  I die cut a piece of White Linen card using MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles and then used Avery Elle's Falling Snow die at the top.

I layered some turquoise and lilac card underneath and then put some foam tape on the back and layered it onto the card front.

I am going to enter this card into two challenges this week:-

Simply Less is More - Turquoise & Lilac

This weekend  I shall be decorating my husbean's man cave.  It used to be his old office and he has decided to make it into a room where Wendy is not allowed!!   He's talking of getting a beer fridge....maybe I should get a wine fridge for my craft room?!!!  Seems only fair :-)

Have a great weekend.

Nutcracker

Hi there.  No card share today as I've just not had time and I was VERY busy in my craft room over the weekend.  Firstly, my niece wanted me to cut her some vinyl stars on my Cameo to go on the walls of her nursery that she is decorating and secondly, my friend who manages a jewellery shop locally, asked me to make something to go in the shop window as they were having a 'nutcracker' theme display.

Gosh,  some of these pieces were fussy and I ended up with glue everywhere but here are some of them:-

SVG cuts Nutcracker Soldier and drum

This soldier is a file I bought from SVG Cuts last year (although I can't find the link on their website)and the drum is from the Silhouette Store and is a Hexagon Box that I converted into a drum.  The soldier is actually a box too and his head lifts off and he is very easy to put together.

The drum and also the mouse (again from the Silhouette Store by Snapdragon Snippets Design ID #106396) were extremely time consuming to make but I did enjoy putting them all together!!
The mouse is designed to be a pull along toy using a golf ball but I just made his body into a complete box.

Nutcracker Mouse Box

I was going to make a couple more of these mice but time ran out on me!  And so did my glue!!

I also cut out some candy canes and soldiers to make into a couple of banner displays.

Hoping to get a card made this week as my Cameo is still panting after this weekend's crafting!!

I also found out that I had an Honourable Mention over at the CASology Challenge - Cute

Yay!
