Lovable Leopards - MFT

I'm back with a card made with a new stamp set Lovable Leopards by MFT.  The leopards in this set are soooo cute!

Lovable Leopards by MFT
I coloured a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card using Distress Inks and then die cut a circle out of it and randomly splattered Soot distress ink over the top of that and the card base.
I coloured the leopard using Copic markers...my markers weren't blending very well which means I will have to buy some refills and also new nibs.  I have put off buying the refills as I wanted to build up my markers first.   I use the browns a lot for colouring animals and they were really squeaking on the paper when I was using them.
My Favorite Things - Lovable Leopards
I then die cut the word 'Happy' out of the leftover distress inked card using MFT Little Letters and Little Lowercase Numbers.
I have wanted to buy an alphabet die set for a while and these MFT ones were reasonably priced.  I also bought the Little Numbers set to go with them.  It saves me having to fire up the Cameo to cut out letters now.

I stuck the letters to the base of the card and then went over them with Glossy Accents at 3am in the morning because I couldn't sleep!!!  I also added GA to the leopard's nose and also the bird's beak.
The sentiment from the same set was then heat embossed onto white card and cut out using MFT Stitched Sentiment Strips.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and also thank you for leaving comments.  They really are MUCH appreciated.
Have a great weekend!

Night Sky Blended Background

I want to start using stamps that I haven't used in a while.  It is so easy to get carried away and buy new stamp sets when they are released and then forget about the ever growing stash of older stamps.  So for today's card I have used Ewe Are The Best by My Favorite Things.
Ewe are the Best by MFT
I was inspired by a card that Nicole Gavaldon made for Lawn Fawn that you can see HERE.
I used a combination of distress inks to create the night sky having first made a mask for the moon and hill.  Nicole drew the shadows on her card freehand and I tried to do the same for my sheep.  Well I think my shadow looks more like a flying giant pig than a sheep hence me slightly covering it up with some grass!!  I tried!
Ewe Are The Best stamps by MFT used to make a Wish Big card
I decided to add some sparkle to my moon and masked around it and then stamped Versamark ink over the top and heat embossed it with clear sparkle powder.
The sheep has been coloured with Copics and the hill and grass was blended with distress inks.  I also used a white Uni-Ball Signo pen for the stars.

I am really pleased with how it turned out (apart from the shadow)!

Tweet Birthday Wishes

After telling myself (yet again) that I didn't need any more stamps, I saw the new release by MFT and snapped up Lovable Leopards when I saw it.  Most of my cards contain a cute animal and the leopards in this set definitely are cute but my eye was also drawn to the crows and they have been used to create this card.

I stamped the word 'tweet' with an alphabet die and then added some clouds.  I also put some Glossy Accents on the crows to give them dimension and added some leaves from another stamp set.

I would like to enter this card into:-
Less is More Challenge - I know that perhaps the cue card 'sweet things' should probably refer to food/drink etc. but in my mind these crows are sweet so I am hoping this card will be allowed??!!
Time Out Challenges - be inspired by the photo above. I have used the colours and birds.

Neapolitan Card (not Ice Cream)

I have just managed to sneak in a card for this week's Less is More Challenge which this week is:-
I had a spare couple of hours yesterday evening to make this card, photograph it and then write it up on my blog...I need to retire so I can spend more time crafting!!:-)
Less is more challenge #331 Neapolitan
The colour combo had to be pink, brown and cream/yellow to fit the Neapolitan ice cream theme.  I used Lawn Fawn Fab Flowers and stamped the roses using Lawn Fawn inks.

Christening Card

We were away this weekend at a family christening for which I had to make a card.  I didn't really have anything suitable in my crafting stash so I went to the internet for inspiration and found a laser cut card that I liked.   I partly copied the card I had seen and created my own cut file with my Silhouette Cameo.
Christening card cut with the Silhouette Cameo
I wasn't sure how well the Cameo would cut some of the intricate smaller pieces but I thought it did a really good job.  I made the card 5"x7" which made it easier to cut.
Over the years that I have had my Cameo, I have found that some card doesn't cut as well as others but I always get really good results with Linen and Hammered card from Papermilldirect especially with intricate cuts so that is my go to card.  Links below.

I enjoyed creating this card so much that I am going to have a go at some more designs...is it too early for Christmas cards?!!!!!

Baby Card & Crafty Stuff

My niece asked me to make her a card for a friend of hers who has recently found out that she is pregnant with her first child and as I am still in a sparkly glitter mode, I made this card for her...

Baby congratulations card made using a snuggle bunnies stamp

I created my own cloud in Silhouette Design Studio and cut it out using my Cameo.  I then sponged distress ink over the top of the cloud and heat embossed over the top using my favourite Wow Clear Sparkle Glitter which I know I have used an awful lot lately!

A congratulations on your pregnancy card

I stamped and coloured in the teddy bear which is from MFT Snuggle Bunnies using Copic markers and added a frame using Lil' inker Dual Stitched Rectangles.  The sentiment is from a Waltzing Mouse stamp set.
Now onto some crafty stuff.....
I always cut my card bases at 4.25" x 11" which means that you can only get one card base out of an A4 piece of card.   I know you can use the leftover piece to cut card front panels at 4" x 5.25" but I think it wastes so much card and besides which, some of the stitched dies I have got are sized for letter sized card.
I have been looking high and low for someone in the UK who sells US Letter sized card without it costing the earth.  Well I have found someone who does sell it and I bought 100 sheets of letter sized white card 285gsm for £16.00 including delivery and custom cutting which I think is really good value.  They also say that this card is good with alcohol markers.  I have tried them with Copic markers and there is hardly any bleed and I actually coloured an image and it blended quite well.  I also tried distress inks and they also blended fairly smoothly.
The company is called Papercutz.  I emailed them and asked for a quote as it is a custom size but they are happy to do it which now means I can stop wasting card and get 2 card bases from one sheet!  Hoorah!  Is it sad that I get excited over card?!!!!
Anyway, I hope some of you at least might find this helpful :-)
Toodles for now,

Dogs Can Fly!

I occasionally love to use digi stamps and when I saw this one by Sassy Cheryl called A Wing and A Prayer, I bought it immediately.
This card reminds me of the old Kellogs Cornflakes packet!
Sassy Cheryl A Wing and A Prayer digital stamp
I started off by using a stencil and distress inks to create the sun and die cut the hills which were also coloured using distress inks and coloured the dog and plane using copic markers.

I also added some Glossy Accents to his goggles although you can't see it in the photo.

We are off to a family christening this weekend.  I made the invitations and also a banner for the cake - if I remember I will take a photo! I hope the sun comes out like it is on this card!

Leave A Trail of Glitter.....

I don't know why but I am making a lot of very bright and vibrant cards lately - I think it's because the sun has started to come out although the rain has come back this weekend.  I am a bit late posting to my blog, but here is my card....
I have used MFT Snuggle Bunnies again,

MFT Snuggle Bunnies used to make a shimmery birthday card
I actually started off by blending various colours of distress ink onto some card and then cutting the letters out on my Silhouette Cameo as I don't have any alphabet dies (they are on my every increasing wish list).

I initially used heat and stick powder to adhere different colours of glitter but I wasn't happy with how they turned out so I cut some more letters out and dipped them in Versamark ink and then used my favourite Wow Clear Sparkle Embossing Glitter over the top which I heat set.
Bunny and Teddy birthday card made with My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies
I coloured the bunny and teddy with my Copic markers and then added the word 'happy' from the left over distress ink blended card which is from Lawn Fawn's 'Happy Happy Happy'.
I am entering this card into this week's Less is More Challenge which is:-
Perhaps I should enter myself as I am covered in glitter as well!!!!  It goes everywhere!

Boo! Quick Card

Hello there.  I have created a very quick card today and it's one of those where I kept thinking it needed something adding but in the end I just left it as is.
I have used the really cute giraffe from the Safari Friends free stamps that I got in last month's Papercraft Essentials Magazine.  I love these stamps.
Papercraft Essentials Safari Friends stamps
I used some Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink to sponge the clouds onto the background and then coloured the giraffe out with Copic markers and cut him out using the Pixscan on my Silhouette Cameo.
I then used a Stitched Dome Frame by MFT to cut out the centre of the card and added a frame in blue to match the clouds.
The sentiment was stamped using Concord and 9th Perfectly Penned stamps which is a great set to have when you don't have the necessary sentiment stamp as you can make your own up.
Anyway, have a great Bank Holiday Weekend to those of you in the UK and to those elsewhere, also have a super weekend.

Bunnies and Glue Don't Mix!

Hello again.  I have managed to get another card made by doing the background before I went to work this morning and then finishing it off when I got back before whizzing off out this evening.
I have been after this bunny set for ages and snaffled it up when it came back in stock at Seven Hills Craft shop.
Snuggle Bunnies by MFT
Perhaps it was because I was pushed for time that I had a glue disaster! I was trying to attach the frame to the background and so I used liquid glue as it is easier to wiggle it around.  The glue wasn't coming out when I squeezed the bottle so I squeezed a little bit more and then got annoyed and squeezed lots more and a big dollop came out all over the frame, me and the desk!  Grrrrr and Doh!
My Favorite Things - Snuggle Bunnies
Maybe I was a tad distracted  because I caught the bus home for a change - I can walk, as it's not far, but I was being lazy.  When I hopped onto the bus, the driver asked me if I was using my bus pass??!!!!!!!!!!!  Now I'm no spring chicken but I didn't think I was looking that worn out and I wasn't walking like Mrs Overall from Acorn Antiques (anyone remember her?) so I was slightly miffed!!!  Grrrr again!
Anyway, thank you for stopping by and listening to me rant!  I have listed the products I have used on this card down below.

More Seaside Seagulls!

Phew!  I have been away again and had no time to craft, hence me not posting on my blog for a week.  But I managed to sneak in some time this weekend to make a card.
There is a challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts this month which is a colour challenge and so I used the colours on the far right to make my card.
I have used MFT Seaside Seagulls again and also the palm tree from MFT Beach Scene Builder.
MFT Seaside Seagulls card for Seven Hills Craft May Challenge
I have gone glittery again and used my favourite WOW Clear Sparkle Embossing powder on top of the waves which I coloured using Distress Ink and cut out using one of the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies which is meant for clouds but turned upside it looks like water.

Seaside Seagulls by My Favorite Things
I have used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens to colour in the seagull and the palm tree leaves and the border is cut out using Lil' inker Dual Stitched Rectangles.
The sentiment is from another MFT set called Up In the Air.
I shall hopefully be back to posting as usual on my blog...it's been a busy couple of weeks but I am determined to spend lots more time in my craft room.

One Layer Card - Build-able Bouquet

Hello and I am back with a card which I am entering into this week's Less is More Challenge which is:-

Yikes....the dreaded one layer card again so no room for mistakes on this one.
Less is More Challenge #328 Spots and Stripes using MFT Build-able Bouquet
I have used MFT Build-able Bouquet which I haven't used for a while.  I used my Misti to stamp several of the flowers and then coloured them using Copic markers.  No shading - just simple colouring.  I actually think the small red flowers look a bit like a strawberry!
I then added some dots with a white gel pen and then added the sentiment which is by Lawn Fawn 'Happy Happy Happy'.
MFT Build-able Bouquet and Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy
Do have a hop on over to the Less is More blog to see the amazing cards that the Design Team have come up with this week.
On another note - my surprise anniversary break was absolutely lovely.  My husbean had booked us into a chateau in Anglesey near Beau Maris.  It was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and so quirky and unusual.  It was built in the style of a French chateau in beautiful grounds which overlooked the Menai Straits.

The weather was fantastic and the journey to North Wales was stunning.  We drove through Llanberis Pass, viewing Snowdon as we went.  We took a trip out to Puffin Island for some birdwatching and just generally chilled, ate and drank.  I always thought puffins were about the size of penguins but they aren't - they are much smaller.  And the anniversary card I gave my husband which used the seagulls from MFT Seaside Gulls (which you can see HERE)turned out to be very apt considering our location.

Toodles for now,

We have left for our mini break this morning but here is a card that I managed to make before we left, again using Seaside Seagulls by MFT.
The sentiment reminds me of the silly seagulls talking in Finding Nemo (you can watch that particular clip HERE).  It always makes me laugh...I'm a child at heart!

My Favorite Things Seaside Seagulls stamps
I first of all stamped and coloured two of the seagulls using Copic markers and then cut them out using my Pixscan mat on the Silhouette Cameo.  I am trying to save money by not ordering matching dies which means I have more to spend on stamps.  Hoorah!
I then cut out 2 sections of card using a cloud die to make the waves and used distress inks to colour them in.  I then covered each piece of card in Versamark ink and covered that with clear shhparkly embossing powder.  It creates a lovely shimmery look.  I also created the cloud background using some dye ink.

Seaside Seagulls by My Favorite Things used to make an anniversary card
I am going to give this card to my husbean for our anniversary on Friday.  While I was making it he kept popping in and out of my craft room so I had to keep covering it up so he wouldn't see it....which is probably why in my haste I missed putting the second layer of waves on after I had stuck it all together!  Luckily, I managed to wiggle it in.
I popped the seagulls up on foam dimensionals and cut a frame which was also popped up on the card base using foam tape.
Finally I added some hearts that I punched out using some glitter cardstock.
