Wake up & Smell the Coffee

I have been playing with some distress inks on today's card.  I wanted to create some sun rays but as I didn't have a stencil I thought I would try and make my own using bits of shaped card.  It worked sort of....I didn't tape one of them down well enough so it moved...you can see where!  Another oops!  But overall I like the effect.
This is a one layer card which I was going to enter into this week's Less is More challenge (favourite drink/beverage) but I don't think there is enough white space for it to be a CAS card.  Coffee is one of my favourite drinks along with wine and cider...oh... and malt whisky!

The stamp set is by L'il Inker & is called Coffee Talk.  The coffee cup was masked off before I used distress inks to make the sun's rays and I then coloured in the cup with Copic markers.   I have also added some Glossy Accents on the heart.

I have had such a hard time taking a photo of  this card too.  Don't know why, but apart from the gloomy weather at the moment and lack of good natural light, I always struggle with orange colours in my cards.

Toodles for now.

  1. Hi Wendy, such a bold dynamic card and clever you making your own stencil looks fab. Didnt notice anything until you pointed it out anyways I always think handmade should have an element of not looking too perfect and thats my excuse and am sticking to it. Although having said that your work is always flawless crisp and clean. BTW am with you on the malt whisky !

  2. LOVE the colours, and the sentiment is wonderful, a GREAT card.

I love to get comments on my blog so thank you for taking the time to say hello! Wendy x
