A Shaker Jar of Butterflies

The sun came out this weekend, the birds were singing and it made me feel Springy so I made this card for the Less is More Challenge which this week is ....

Lawn Fawn Fab Flowers and How You Bean Shaker cuts

I had a hard time taking a photo of this card because of the sun.  I struggle when the light isn't great and then just when I get my settings ok'ish, the sun comes out and messes them up!

Anyway enough of my lack of photography skills,  I wanted to create a see through shaker style card using the butterfly that comes in the Fab Flowers stamps by Lawn Fawn.

I used the Shaker Add-on from the How You Bean dies to cut a hole in the card base and then to cut out the pieces of acetate and foam to create the shaker part.

I stamped the butterflies (or flutterbyes as I call them) using some Lawn Fawn ink and then stuck them back to back so that you can see them from outside and inside the card.

I then partially stuck them together so that they wouldn't all sink to the bottom and pieced the shaker bits together, trying very hard to get rid of any dust that immediately gets attracted to acetate!  I have got some anti-static cloths somewhere but can't remember where I have put them.

I stamped the sentiment and banner from some more Lawn Fawn sets (see below) and then added a scalloped frame.  I heat embossed the jar lid with silver embossing powder and popped that on top and then added some more flutterbyes.

I haven't seen any flutterbyes yet as it's probably still too cold for them despite the warmth of the sun today...I hope it's going to be a good Summer!

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:-

  2. So elegant and pretty! I love the idea of the jar framing the butterflies and then the larger scalloped edge frame in the background. Gorgeous colours too with those soft pinks and lilacs, and the pop of yellow. Awesome card Wendy! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)

  8. Brilliant use of colour and space Wendy and the clever idea of the jar shaker is just wonderful. Thanks for the tip about the partial sticking on those butterflies too - I'll remember that for the future.
Ha! I felt your pain in this post - pesky sun always ruins my photos too and just don't get me started on dust and acetate lol. We have a wealth of butterflies around my house all year and it is so lovely to see them. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Less is More xx
