Flying Chickens

I am back today with a flying chicken!  I have used an old stamp by Create A Smile called 'Eggstraordinary Egghunt which I have used quite a lot as there are some really cute stamps on it but I have used the chicken/rooster today to create this card.
Create a Smile - Eggstraordinary Egghunt
I decided to make him fly so after colouring him in with copic markers.  The balloons are from Friends For All Seasons by WPlus9 as is the sentiment which is from Unforgettable and that is heat embossed.  I added Glossy Accents to the beak and balloons.

I die cut the clouds from Mama Elephant Landscape Trio and added some distress ink to the edges.  The frame is one which I seem to use on nearly every card I make at the moment and is by L'il inker Dual Stitched Rectangles.
I popped everything up on foam tape and added some squiggles to make the chicken look as if he is flapping his wings.
Now for a MOLE UPDATE:  If you read my blog on Monday you would have seen my mole card inspired by the mole/moles that have invaded our garden and is causing much despair with my husband whose prize lawn is being slowly destroyed.  We have tried everything to get rid of them to no avail.  A fellow crafter on Instagram suggested blasting them out with a powerful jet of water down their runs.  We did this on Tuesday evening and woke up on Wednesday morning only to find that they had moved to the other side of the garden!!  Aren't they crafty?!!!  Anyway this evening, (it's Wednesday as I am typing this) my husband blasted some more water down their new this space to see if it works.
Have a lovely weekend.

Spot the Leopard!

Here is another card that I made last week.  My brown copic markers were running dry on this card so I ordered some refills and also decided to give my markers a clean.  It's amazing how mucky the markers can get and then the lids stop fitting on as well as they should which then makes them dry out.

This was the first time I have ever refilled or cleaned my copics (shame on you Wendy) and after overfilling my first marker, I soon got the hang of it although my thumb is still stained brown!
MFT Lovable Leopards

I have used MFT Lovable Leopards, distress inks and a stencil to create this card.

I have also given the leopard and the crow a nice glossy nose using Glossy Accents.

Toodles for now.....

One Mole is Too Many!

I know I have been a bit quiet these past couple of weeks because I wanted a small break from blogging but I thought I would enter this week's Less is More Challenge which is based on this sketch:-
My mind went instantly to a Create a Smile stamp set called Poppin' Over particularly because moles are on my mind lately.  We have got one, possibly two in our lawn!!!  I didn't realise what damage they can do.  They have made a right mess of it and it is sinking!!  My husband tends the lawn regularly, feeds and weeds it and mows it very frequently - so much so that I liken it to Centre Court at Wimbledon and feel guilty walking on it when I hang out the washing!!!!
So here is my card....
Less is More Sketch Challenge - Create a Smile Poppin' Over
I coloured the mole (we have nicknamed ours Guaca) with Copic markers and freehand blobbed the earth underneath.  I used Salty Ocean distress ink for the sky.  The card front was die cut using Lil' inker Dual Stitched Rectangles and then again using Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies.

The sentiment is from the same set and was heat embossed.  The clouds are from a set by MFT called Seaside Seagulls.

I think you can enter more one card for this challenge so I am going to enter this card too.  I was sorting through my old Stampin' Up! stamps that I want to sell so that I can buy more crafty stuff and found the Something Lacy background stamp that I had forgotten about.  I made this card last week before I saw the new LIM sketch challenge and coincidentally it fits spooky is that?  Now I nearly didn't enter it because I then saw one of the design team's cards and another spooky coincidence is that it is very similar to Anita's card...I didn't copy it honestly Anita!!

Sorry this blog post went on for a bit!!  Anyway have a hop on over to the Less is More Challenge to see what the amazing design team have come up with this week.

Lovable Leopards - MFT

I'm back with a card made with a new stamp set Lovable Leopards by MFT.  The leopards in this set are soooo cute!

Lovable Leopards by MFT
I coloured a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card using Distress Inks and then die cut a circle out of it and randomly splattered Soot distress ink over the top of that and the card base.
I coloured the leopard using Copic markers weren't blending very well which means I will have to buy some refills and also new nibs.  I have put off buying the refills as I wanted to build up my markers first.   I use the browns a lot for colouring animals and they were really squeaking on the paper when I was using them.
My Favorite Things - Lovable Leopards
I then die cut the word 'Happy' out of the leftover distress inked card using MFT Little Letters and Little Lowercase Numbers.
I have wanted to buy an alphabet die set for a while and these MFT ones were reasonably priced.  I also bought the Little Numbers set to go with them.  It saves me having to fire up the Cameo to cut out letters now.
Card made using distress ink and Lovable Leopards by MFT
I stuck the letters to the base of the card and then went over them with Glossy Accents at 3am in the morning because I couldn't sleep!!!  I also added GA to the leopard's nose and also the bird's beak.
The sentiment from the same set was then heat embossed onto white card and cut out using MFT Stitched Sentiment Strips.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and also thank you for leaving comments.  They really are MUCH appreciated.
Have a great weekend!

Night Sky Blended Background

I want to start using stamps that I haven't used in a while.  It is so easy to get carried away and buy new stamp sets when they are released and then forget about the ever growing stash of older stamps.  So for today's card I have used Ewe Are The Best by My Favorite Things.
Ewe are the Best by MFT
I was inspired by a card that Nicole Gavaldon made for Lawn Fawn that you can see HERE.
I used a combination of distress inks to create the night sky having first made a mask for the moon and hill.  Nicole drew the shadows on her card freehand and I tried to do the same for my sheep.  Well I think my shadow looks more like a flying giant pig than a sheep hence me slightly covering it up with some grass!!  I tried!

I decided to add some sparkle to my moon and masked around it and then stamped Versamark ink over the top and heat embossed it with clear sparkle powder.
The sheep has been coloured with Copics and the hill and grass was blended with distress inks.  I also used a white Uni-Ball Signo pen for the stars.

I am really pleased with how it turned out (apart from the shadow)!

Tweet Birthday Wishes

After telling myself (yet again) that I didn't need any more stamps, I saw the new release by MFT and snapped up Lovable Leopards when I saw it.  Most of my cards contain a cute animal and the leopards in this set definitely are cute but my eye was also drawn to the crows and they have been used to create this card.

I stamped the word 'tweet' with an alphabet die and then added some clouds.  I also put some Glossy Accents on the crows to give them dimension and added some leaves from another stamp set.

I would like to enter this card into:-
Less is More Challenge - I know that perhaps the cue card 'sweet things' should probably refer to food/drink etc. but in my mind these crows are sweet so I am hoping this card will be allowed??!!
Time Out Challenges - be inspired by the photo above. I have used the colours and birds.

Neapolitan Card (not Ice Cream)

I have just managed to sneak in a card for this week's Less is More Challenge which this week is:-
I had a spare couple of hours yesterday evening to make this card, photograph it and then write it up on my blog...I need to retire so I can spend more time crafting!!:-)
Less is more challenge #331 Neapolitan
The colour combo had to be pink, brown and cream/yellow to fit the Neapolitan ice cream theme.  I used Lawn Fawn Fab Flowers and stamped the roses using Lawn Fawn inks.

Christening Card

We were away this weekend at a family christening for which I had to make a card.  I didn't really have anything suitable in my crafting stash so I went to the internet for inspiration and found a laser cut card that I liked.   I partly copied the card I had seen and created my own cut file with my Silhouette Cameo.
Christening card cut with the Silhouette Cameo
I wasn't sure how well the Cameo would cut some of the intricate smaller pieces but I thought it did a really good job.  I made the card 5"x7" which made it easier to cut.
Over the years that I have had my Cameo, I have found that some card doesn't cut as well as others but I always get really good results with Linen and Hammered card from Papermilldirect especially with intricate cuts so that is my go to card.  Links below.

I enjoyed creating this card so much that I am going to have a go at some more it too early for Christmas cards?!!!!!

Baby Card & Crafty Stuff

My niece asked me to make her a card for a friend of hers who has recently found out that she is pregnant with her first child and as I am still in a sparkly glitter mode, I made this card for her...

Baby congratulations card made using a snuggle bunnies stamp

I created my own cloud in Silhouette Design Studio and cut it out using my Cameo.  I then sponged distress ink over the top of the cloud and heat embossed over the top using my favourite Wow Clear Sparkle Glitter which I know I have used an awful lot lately!

A congratulations on your pregnancy card

I stamped and coloured in the teddy bear which is from MFT Snuggle Bunnies using Copic markers and added a frame using Lil' inker Dual Stitched Rectangles.  The sentiment is from a Waltzing Mouse stamp set.
Now onto some crafty stuff.....
I always cut my card bases at 4.25" x 11" which means that you can only get one card base out of an A4 piece of card.   I know you can use the leftover piece to cut card front panels at 4" x 5.25" but I think it wastes so much card and besides which, some of the stitched dies I have got are sized for letter sized card.
I have been looking high and low for someone in the UK who sells US Letter sized card without it costing the earth.  Well I have found someone who does sell it and I bought 100 sheets of letter sized white card 285gsm for £16.00 including delivery and custom cutting which I think is really good value.  They also say that this card is good with alcohol markers.  I have tried them with Copic markers and there is hardly any bleed and I actually coloured an image and it blended quite well.  I also tried distress inks and they also blended fairly smoothly.
The company is called Papercutz.  I emailed them and asked for a quote as it is a custom size but they are happy to do it which now means I can stop wasting card and get 2 card bases from one sheet!  Hoorah!  Is it sad that I get excited over card?!!!!
Anyway, I hope some of you at least might find this helpful :-)
Toodles for now,

Dogs Can Fly!

I occasionally love to use digi stamps and when I saw this one by Sassy Cheryl called A Wing and A Prayer, I bought it immediately.
This card reminds me of the old Kellogs Cornflakes packet!
Sassy Cheryl A Wing and A Prayer digital stamp
I started off by using a stencil and distress inks to create the sun and die cut the hills which were also coloured using distress inks and coloured the dog and plane using copic markers.

I also added some Glossy Accents to his goggles although you can't see it in the photo.

We are off to a family christening this weekend.  I made the invitations and also a banner for the cake - if I remember I will take a photo! I hope the sun comes out like it is on this card!
